Change is inevitable. You are either willing to roll with the changes or stay stuck in a world that is changing around you. It fancies itself as being a part of the reading requirements of some pretty large corporations, such as Lockheed Martin, Morgan Stanley, Nations Banks and former Vice chair of Merrill Lynch.....look what happened to them. It discusses how to deal with change, whether in work or in your personal life by using 2 "LittlePeople" Hem and Haw and 2 mice, "Sniff and Scurry". The Cheese is a metaphor for what we want in life and the characters represent different personality types and what they are willing to do to achieve there goals. I found the book only, OK. Others my find it profound. I did not.

I ordered this because I wanted a small dictionary to take with me when working on my translation out of the house. I find it next to useless, however, as it only gives one word definitions and no parts of speech - if I'm packing up my laptop and a 500 page icelandic novel, I might as well take my full sized orðabók.

I generally enjoyed this read. The general theme is about making choices rather than waiting for life to happen, and the joy of learning new things. The puns and wordplay can be both amusing or annoying, depending on one's preference for that sort of thing. Though organized into a quest/portal fantasy structure, the story is filled with a chaotic mix of characters and locales. Thus, though one could guess the general direction of the story, how the story progresses and ends is relatively unique. Altogether, worthwhile for someone looking for an interesting read to kill time :), and strongly suggested for someone who enjoys wordplay and escapist fantasy (i.e. Frank L Baum, Raold Dahl, etc.)

If you know me, you know I love Pride and Prejudice, the movie that came out in 2005. The book it was based upon is fantastic as well. Austen gives you such a real feeling of how life was in the English countryside for women. The dialogue, the wit, and the story are amazing. Elizabeth Bennett is a truly admirable heroine. Great love story, friendship story, sister story. Although only being familiar with Jane Austen for a few year, my copy of this book is completely worn already from repeated readings.

OK, not all that bad. It lacks the depth you might expect for an older audience, but it is quite an interesting story - could have been improved by a Stephen King treatment of maybe more depth of character development, but this dystopian book is worth the 4 hrs it takes to read. My daughter is going crazy about it, so I guess I needed to read it at some point.....
