I only picked up this book because I was nervous about the minor earthquake here in NYC that I left my book at work. So when I got home and wanted to read I wanted to read something small and quick. I saw this book that someone had given me and I decided it looked small and easy and it was but it just wasn't a good story. It could have been if there were more details and excitement. It moved to quickly and I feel that there was a lot of parts left out. Serious parts. I just felt like I walked into a major story and was left confused and wanted more. I just don't think it really wasn't much of a read and I felt cheated.

This is a great comprehensive overview of modern Spain. It is written by a journalist who keeps the prose engaging all the way through. I learned quite a bit.

I started reading this book many months ago, during the winter I believe, and only just now finished it. While I absolutely love his writing there was a spot in the middle where I got so bored that I set the book down for months. There was so much of Tyrion plotting and Catelyn attempting to plot that I felt stuck. It turns out I gave up on it at the exact wrong time because when I picked it up again I could not stop reading. All in all another splendid book, and I am excited to read the third book. Sometimes he spends a bit too much time listing the people present (all the Tullys and Wrackburns and Gobldygooks) but I am able to get past that mostly by skimming those parts. His descriptions are wonderful and they keep me moving forward even when the plot lags at times. He also does wonderful battle scenes, which are not usually my favorites, but they just feel so natural, one can almost feel the pulse and gore of the battle around them. I truly enjoy some of the characters more than others, and wish more of the plot was devoted to them, but since everything else is still so splendid I find that I'm only mildly annoyed at how little we see of those characters. Many people I know who have read the books agree with me, there needs to be more Arya and Jon Snow. I am guessing that Jon's story is going to pick up in the next book, just judging by the name, and I am very excited for that. One problem I have with this book, and the first one, is how many people die. I understand why it happens, and most of the time agree with it, and this may just be my own oddness, but I really wish more of the characters could live. Also I finally figured out in this book why Sansa must exist the way she does, because otherwise we would get no story from her part of the world. In fact he does very well at keeping the right amount of people in the right places in order for the story to progress the best. I am a huge fan and will likely enjoy devouring the next book as well, and then the one after that, and the one after that and so on and so forth.

You'd be surprised what's in your food. It's not quite so effective if you make everything from scratch, but if you buy the occasional (or often) packaged food, this resource will help you figure out which of your foods have coloring that comes from coal... mmm.

I really, really enjoyed this one! It was so funny and not nearly as sad as The Fault in Our Stars or Looking for Alaska. I enjoyed Colin and Hassan's banter back and forth, and how all 3 major players (Colin, Hassan, and Lindsey) were flawed but totally lovable. I enjoyed seeing them work on tackling the things about themselves that aren't so great. I felt like it was a really realistic portrayal of teenage friendships/social interactions, which I think is something John Green has repeatedly proven he excels at writing. I also like that the story took place post-high school graduation. A fun summer/road trip/self discovery book.
