Rachel Balducci does a great job talking about life with boys. Humor and reality join together in this fun read.

If i would be a guy instead of being this mostly unladylike girl, I`d be Harry Dresden except the being a wizard part. Haplessly good-hearted, short-sighted, blundering through most situations with all my might, but still trying to belong to the bright and shiny part of the world. Jim Butcher writes the best underdog action, with eat your heart out full on battle scenes that your subconscious will try to repeat in your dreams, where you end up flailing your arms around trying to make magic happen. True story.

Now that Webmind has begun to interact with the rest of the world, and Caitlin is discovering what it means to be a sighted teenager, they are both discovering that there are many things out there of which they should be wary. The government begins watching them, aware that Webmind could have significant influence and power, with great repercussions if he chose to abuse that power. I liked this even better than the first book, preferring the focus on the social ramifications of Caitlin’s vision technology and Webmind. I also really enjoyed the political intrigue and the romantic interaction between Caitlin and her socially awkward boyfriend. This was Mr. Sawyer at his best, typical with his writing once he is well-entrenched in the middle of one of his strong stories.

So, this guy is my favorite author. He is funny and random and so odd. Quirky. Lamb is his most hilarious. Brandy and I think that C. Moore is either really Christian, or the most blaspemous man alive. He definitely does a lot of drugs. Lamb has to be his best book, but he's written some doozeys. He likes to insult former Peace Corps volunteers (he must have been one). He writes the most inane, yet simple and workable fiction. This is a definite must read!

I enjoy Jennifer Weiner's writing normally, but I was disappointed with this collection of short stories. Many of them have the same set-up: we meet a single career girl, flash back to the guy who hurt her (and the supportive family/friends who warned her not to get involved), then flash back to the current situation with the new guy who might be the one. I enjoyed seeing Cannie and her dog Nifkin reappear in one of the stories. My favorite story was the one from which the book gets its title: "The Guy Not Taken." It features a stay-at-home mom who finds her college boyfriend's wedding registry, who then obsesses over the "one who got away." The magic of said wedding registry allows her to see what life with him might have been like, and I thought it was well-written. Many of the other stories, though, were trite. How many times can you write about divorce?!

This was a really cute read. I think there are some lessons for the grown ups in here too.

Even though I have a copy of the book Steve Martin signed, I am listening to it.
