This is a classic! I really enjoyed the book, and this definitely showed me why Anne Rice is a master of storytellers. I was caught up in the book very easily, and her descriptions were very thorough, letting me see through the words easily. This book is quite a bit longer than some of the books out there, but it's a must read for anyone looking to get into a good vampire story.

This book is for people who are into ghosts and psychic phenomena. It was well written, but a little weird.

The novel is about the relationship between two fictional Victorian poets, Randolph Henry Ash and Christabel LaMotte, as revealed to present day academics Roland Michell and Maud Bailey. Following a trail of clues from various letters and journals, they attempt to uncover the truth about Ash and LaMotte's past before it is discovered by rival colleagues.

I enjoyed this story even though the “horror” bits were a bit gross and reminded me of something out of a Konrath book, rather than something scary. Other reviewers have mentioned that character development was lacking, I didn't find that at all. Rather, I found the character set a bit sparse. In spite of this, the author did manage to fool me as to who the bad guy was. Formatting for the Kindle was of the best I have seen for a while, and the proof-reading was well done with only two errors that I can recall. The author did his research quite well, with things striking me being mopana instead of mopani and alluding to the fact that euphorbias are native to northern Nigeria – they are fairly widespread. He also spelled some Afrikaans words incorrectly – voetsake is actually voetsak (pronounced foot-sack) and boerwors is boerewors. For some reason the author is also markedly negative towards white Zimbabweans. At 99c (even for Amazon international customers), this book is a bargain and have no hesitation in recommending it - I will defintitely be buying the second book.

Who doesn't love a good historical romance? Wait, don't answer that, I'm aware that there are quite a few people in the world who truly don't enjoy either romance novels, or the historical romance subgenre. Luckily, I love it. First, the gripes, because there are only a few. I'm not such a fan of the cover on this one though; not only is the main character never in a blue dress, the dude looks rather silly in his frilly shirt. But whatever, I didn't actually judge this one on its cover. I judged it by its title, and I have to say that Beau Blackthorn wasn't as Rake-ish as I was expecting. However, the cover and title are my only real gripes with this book. I loved the characters, and the plot. I felt like the characters were growing and changing from the beginning to the end, and that there was actually chemistry between our hero and heroine. Chelsea learns a bit about herself, and a lot about Beau. Meanwhile, Beau learns quite a bit about both himself and Chelsea. Some of the decisions they make toward the end of the book represent major deviations from choices they'd have made at the beginning, but it rather felt like it made sense based upon what had happened in the intervening time. Where sometimes I feel the need to inhale a book in a single sitting, and it costs me hours of sleep, I found that I could put this one down. Not because it was boring, but because it was paced in such a way that it was possible to look away without feeling like you could miss something. It wasn't a breathless race to the finish- not for the reader anyway- but instead it was a relaxing read which enabled me to appreciate the intricacies of the perspective shifts and character growth. I really enjoyed this particular novel, and will certainly be picking up a few more by this author- I look forward to reading about Beau's brothers in the upcoming novels. This title earns a 4/5 for being a good read. If you like regency romance, you should certainly pick it up. {I received a review copy from the publisher.} Full review available on AeliaReads.

This book started off slow and was confusing in the beginning but by the end it really picked up. It is not my normal genre so I am glad I stuck to it.

I loved the fact that this book was set in Portland. It was about a food writer who had a super-critical mom and has major food issues. She ends up caring for a family friend who is dying of cancer. As expected, she ends up losing weight and developing a much healthier approach to food, in addition to uncovering family secrets and realizing that her mom is not as one-dimensional as she had thought. I enjoyed it; it was perfect for vacation.

Boring boring boring. Why say something in a sentence when 5 vpages can be used. Overly descriptive. That said great insight into 1st world war horrors. Could have been an excellent book but failed due to being overly descriptive.

I *loved* this book. While it was hard to find anything to like about the characters, the writing is just simply superb and I just lapped it up. It was a very realistic portrayal of the lives of an elderly husband and wife and in fact reminded me a lot of my own parents. Particularly, my father who has many similar symptoms to Alfred's illness.
