OK, I almost gave up on this book at about page 75 but pushed myself to read to page 100. So glad I did. Very interesting story line that twists on itself -- didn't expect that. Characters that are unique and intriguing. It's topped off with some great history tidbits and perspectives I'd not considered before. Really a good read.

White geared towards married couples, this book still manages to be relevant to just about anyone as it explores Chapman's idea on what the five languages are and how we can more freely give and receive them to ensure a healthy and long-lasting relationship with the one we love.

I definitely understand why Frankenstein is considered a classic--it has complex themes, great visual descriptions, and poetic language: "The cup of life was poisoned for ever; and although the sun shone upon me as upon the happy and gay of heart, I saw around me nothing but a dense and frightful darkness, penetrated by no light but the glimmer of two eyes that glared upon me." But despite all that, I really didn't care for it. The plot doesn't get going until about halfway through, when we finally meet Frankenstein's monster. Before that, Frankenstein himself mostly whines about how miserable he is and has been (he really does that throughout the book). It's hard to feel sympathy for him or his creation. Frankenstein took no responsibility for his actions until it was too late, and his monster commits crimes against the innocent and says he's sorry only after Frankenstein has died. Granted, sympathy may not be the point of the novel, but in order for me to really enjoy a story, I need at least one character I can identify with, and in Shelley's book I found none. I'm glad I've read it, and it definitely had its high points (I did feel for the monster as he described his first encounter with horrified humans), but I'm also glad it was rather short.

This is an interesting new take on the vampire romance genre. Alex and Stefan are very different, he is sophisticated and worldly and she is a bit naïve but determined to make a name for herself in her new profession. The plot is full of action and excitement, but is not for the faint of heart. The story can be a bit violent and pretty bloody at times, no pun intended. The author does a great job of inventing a world where vampires are a part of regular society. She makes it all very real and easy to believe. This author really knows how to write an exciting story and I would love to read more of them. Maura Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance & More Full Review: http://www.coffeetimeromance.com/Book...

Some of Nora Ephron's points are very true, but she complains a lot in the book; gets tiring.

A fast pace Jane Austen. Fantasy and Austen. Lovely just like Jane Austen! what can I say, I loved this book. At first, the whole magic thing caught me off guard and it was definitely new, but once I got myself started, I couldn't stop! It's a must read for all Jane Austen fans. Even though the plot and detail was much faster than Austen's work, it was wonderfully and beautifully written. I'm so glad i read this book and I would definitely recommend it!

Follow up to Eye of the Red Tsar, this book does a decent job of standing independently, filling in historical details through flashbacks. Multiple mini stories did lend an air of predictability, but mostly this book can be viewed as a well-written bridge to a (hopefully) thrilling conclusion. Characters were engaging and the pace was enjoyable. Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher through the LibraryThing book review program.
