** spoiler alert ** I knew Chloe wouldn't let us down. LOVED the book. Would probably give it more stars if I could. He's back!!! It was hard reading Merit going on with life and missing Ethan so much throughout the whole thing. The dreams didn't help any either. Really wanted someone to take out Frank. Sniveling little weasel. I hated him and everything he put the House through. Taking Sentinel away from Merit was the last straw. I was so happy when Malik stood up to him. Jonah grew on me. I didn't particularly like when he kissed Merit but at least he was a gentleman about it when she said she wasn't ready. He didn't push. He is a good partner for her when it comes to protecting vampires and humans alike. He's not as good as Ethan but still good. He'll be a very reliable friend for her. Poor Mallory. She's lost it. I felt so bad for Catcher. Now it's up to Merit and Ethan to bring her back before she causes any more problems. I just hope they can get her sobered up from her addiction to the magic. Side note, Simon is a tool. What an idiot. He was around her more than Catcher. How could he not have noticed her obsession?!?!? Also not sure what game Tate is playing. He was a little too helpful for my liking. Speaking of liking, I don't like the new mayor. She's a freakin moron too. But Ethan's back!! That part alone made everything else worth it. I almost started crying I was so happy when she saw him coming out of the fog. Overall great book and I can't wait to continue the series. :P

The subject matter is very hard to take. It's quite a sad story and doesn't get any happier at the end, but I still really loved this book. I found myself feeling like I was the only friend to little Bone, the main character, and I wished I could do something to help her. It's so sad that this stuff happens to little kids all over.

Very well written series. History made entertaining, and real. You can really imagine what it would have been like to live through WWII and this series gives you an appreciation for that. Ends well also.

I enoyed the author's take of why people do (or act) the way they do. I have seen the movie that was based on this book and they followed the book pretty close I think a few things were changed just for production sake but the story was not changed.

I finished it, and recently, a friend put into words what I was thinking about this book...that the prose and structure really gives you the feeling you are snow bound in a tiny town with weird things going on. Not my favorite book, but I'm glad I finished it.
