Capra offers an amazingly insightful and lucid analysis of the parallels between quantum-relativity theory and Eastern religious views. As a disciple of Alan Watts, he truly carries on the torch of the Westerner's transcendence to the Easterner's mystical universe. All in all, this one will blow your mind.

Not quite as good as the first one, but still well written. It is interesting to see how Odd has evolved after the events of the first book.

A powerfully humanistic look at the natural history of our deepest feelings. Their grasp of neural science is topnotch, but the book is more about humans as social animals and how we relate to others. A book which gives us a peek at how the brain plays second fiddle to the heart.

Not as much about living in France as it is about his family. Not horrible, but if I had to do it all over again, I'd check it out from library instead of forking over 12 bucks for it.

An amazing account of the fall of the Ottoman Empire during World War I and the subsequent carving up of the Arabian Peninsula into what we now refer to as the Middle East. This book is extremely informative and yet reads like a novel, giving a unique insight into how the Allied Powers and Central Powers viewed the region during the conflict, how the notion of Zionism was born and politized during this period, and the role of Winston Churchill, then Britain's Secretary of State. I highly recommend this book for anyone that wants a better understanding of the foundations on which the current Middle East conflicts were built upon.

Witty and fast paced.y pregnancy addled brain loved mysteries, now I find them acceptable substitutes for all the tv I'm not watching. This book was engaging with characters that didn't come off as overwhelmingly cliched. I'm reading the next one and hope to still have a few more left to read during my next plane ride.

This is the first book about Islam from a Christian perspective that I have read, so I don't have anything to compare it to. I appreciated Chapman's irenic tone above all. I found it a genuinely Christian alternative to all the "West vs. East" culture war rhetoric that has been flying around, especially within the last 10 years. He is measured in his recommendations, and takes pains to allow Muslims to describe what they believe in their own words. That said, he doesn't gloss over the differences between Christianity and Islam. Some of the quotes are longer than necessary, and he repeats himself more often than necessary. Apart from those quibbles, I'd recommend this book to a Christian seeking to respond to Islam in a distinctively Christian way.

I have mixed feelings about this particular Oz book. I was never that fond of the Cowardly Lion as and to see him as a main character and not a supporting character was odd. Thompson's new characters and add-ons to Oz geography are wonderfully silly, however, and much enjoyed.
