I went to grad school with Mark, and one of the poems is dedicated to me. It's my all-time favorite poem. Mark is prolific and beautiful writer; I'm not the biggest fan of poetry but I love love love this collection.

This book was very interesting, but at times the politics about the fair made me zone out. But the murdery parts were fun. That doesn't sound good... This is a good book for history fans.

loved that this was a true story, and that the hero is right here in Salt Lake (AND I got to meet him!)--fascinating look at the uniqueness of people, and the excitement of rare books--though sounding dull at first, will give you chills!

The history of Rome as a first person point of view novel; elegant, fascinating, and totally accessible.

This was the first book I ever read about intentional communities. It made me realize that these communities were what I'd been looking for, and has changed the intentions of my life in major ways. Now I'm very focused on building a community I can live in, one that really makes life better for everyone.

In this book, we go deeper into the world of the Psy, specifically an F-Psy, or forcaster, named Faith Nightstar who can essentially predict the future. She is utilized by the Psy to predict business market trends and make money. Most of her life she has been isolated for protection, but that changes when her compound, close to Dark-River territory, is watched by Vaughn. Vaughn is a jaguar changeling abandoned by his parents as a child. He visits Faith and draws her out into the changeling world of emotion. This is the second in the series and I must say that the sci-fi background plot is very complex. I find it a little too much for me sometimes, but no one can argue that it's not well done. I have a hard time understanding something as abstract as the PsyNet and MindNet, and a lot of battles in the first two books occur in the minds of two characters, which is so different! One mind can incapacitate or kill another one if given the opportunity. It's very "out there". My favorite parts of this book revolve around the romance that develops between Vaughn and Faith, but I didn't like it as much as the first. I'll definitely keep reading, as the next one, Caressed by Ice, is supposed to be fantastic.

I liked this book, but had a difficult time getting into it because it is written for a young audience. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of childrens books that I really do enjoy reading as an adult, but I found myself struggling to get through sections of this one...mostly the nursery rhymes. I didn't even like nursery rhymes when I was a kid. However, I did really like the concepts in this book. I liked that MacDonald tells us not to take worldly intelligence too seriously, that sometimes the simple view of a child is better. I liked that he talked about the fact that beauty does not equal goodness. I liked that, without being preachy, he tells his young readers that death isn't ALWAYS something to be afraid of. On another note, I think that the imagery in this book was really nice.
