Yo - put on hold at the library!
This one has thwarted me. I was listening to it on audiobook and there were just too many characters for my mind to track while driving. I liked the reader, but not for this book, in which she attempted no variance for different voices and maintained the same kind of tongue-in-cheek tone no matter what kind of terrible thing happened. I think that's partly because of how Atkinson wrote her narrator Ruby, who despite being a zygote as the novel starts always has the tone of an adult. Anyway, after three discs I was completely lost, and not interested in the book enough to try again.

An interesting piece, slightly self-absorbed, which in the end is pretty much the point. What's more interesting than this is the "companion" piece, Let Me Take You Down, the book by Mark David Chapman detailing how Catcher led him to murder John Lennon.

I wasn't expecting rocket science from this chick lit book, but I was expecting something more enjoyable than what I got. The three Sullivan sisters must write their confessions to their grandmother Almighty because the old coot cut them all out of her will. And so we get the plot through their confessions. One sister loves an older man and runs away from her cotillion. One sister tells all the family secrets on her blog and gets suspended from school for blasphemy. The other sister thinks she's immortal and believes she killed her step-grandpa. And that's about it. I never did get attached to any of the characters and didn't laugh at all while I read the book. It was light-hearted in parts, but just didn't reach me. Best part of the book is the cover!
I loved this book. I haven't seen anything else by this author though. I would like to find other books of hers.

This book is a memoir by a guy diagnosed with Asperger's as an adult. First third is interesting and then I got tired of the self centered, thoughtless adventures. Skipped to nearer the end where he talked about his current life, married with a kid. The disturbing thing is that there's currently a murder case in MN where a guy (undiagnosed but defense using asperger's as part of explanation) lured a young woman to his home via Craig's list and then murdered her. The parallels in behavior and thought or lack of thought between the memoir guy and the newspaper account of the accused murderer are disturbing..... Interesting book. His brother is the guy who wrote RUNNING WITH SCISSORS. I think that's also a memoir.

This book was okay. It made me think about how involved those on the other side are with us.
