Taught me to love good science fiction and reading in general. Read it again recently with one of my gradeschool tutees - twas obviously not the same - but still gave me the chills. Wasn't only nostalgia, but appreciation for a great idea made suitable for ze kids.

Best book that I've read in a long while... hard to put down!
At one point I put this down and let too much time pass before I picked it up again. It's on hold for now.

I really enjoyed the unbiased view of world religions. John proved that although a Christian himself, he is able to set his own beliefs aside and provide an untainted description of what the other religions are about, their beliefs, their practises, their ideas. And not from a stand point of Christianity, but from a neutral point. Giving each religion their own space. He proved to me that to say: "all religions are really the same" is not a true statement and to say it is doing a disservice to all religions and proves one's own ignorance. Johns idea that "true tolerance of religions" is not all about saying: "I'm right and so are you" as this would be stretching the truth. But tolerance is about saying:"I believe this, you believe that, and we can still all get along and accept that we believe different things." A book every religious person ought to read for two reasons. One to get rid of any remaining ignorance about what other religions actually believe in. And two to foster true tolerance between religious groups.

This book is just one giant fu*k-fest. And believe me, I'm not overreacting. It needs a lot of less sex and a bit more about the characters and their struggle, tha way it is now it's just erotica. I was intrigued by some characters, and will probably just read a few pages from the next books to see what's going on, but the sex is way too much.

The bloom is off the rose in the Jane Austen sequel with mystery MR. DARCY'S SECRET by Jane Odiwe. Mysterious passionate love letters from the past, supposedly written to Darcy, interrupt Elizabeth's newly wedded bliss. Even worse, there is a child who closely resembles Darcy. Is the boy Darcy's son? Although Elizabeth can't change the past, the present is equally disturbing. Darcy reverts to type as he arranges Georgiana's loveless marriage to a "suitable" older gentleman. That Georgiana loves another, the landscape gardener, Tom, who also loves her, means nothing. Full of the manners and mores so dear to Regency readers, MR. DARCY'S SECRET is another fine addition to the Jane Austen universe. The worthy, if penniless, Tom must fight for Georgiana against the prevailing sentiment of marriage as a merger of fortunes and influence. In her turn, Georgiana must overcome her dutiful submission to her brother's wrong-headed ideas about marriage, ones he himself ignored. And then there is the mystery. Ms. Odiwe keeps you guessing right to the end as to what the sad and shocking MR. DARCY'S SECRET really is. The knowledge could either destroy Darcy's and Elizabeth's marriage or make it stronger. Young love, old sins, characters we love, villains we love to hate, and a mystery threading through the whole--MR. DARCY'S SECRET has it all. ARC provided by Sourcebooks
