Honestly, this was a really fun, gripping read. I know this book is for 12 year-olds but this 34 year-old gives it a thumbs up.

I love the theme, the atmosphere, and the end result. I'm not a western fan but the spot-on, witty dialogue and the ambiance Mccarthy provides impeccably make this a great read. Like Hemingway, the minimal narrative is flawless and razor-sharp. Moss' dry Texan sarcasm was perfect. Chigurh of course was the perfect villain. I loved the speech about the coin. I recommend.

This was great! I was drawn into the story from the start and really enjoyed the characters. The book does have a Lord of the Rings feel to it as far as following each of the main characters on their own quests. Jim Butcher does a wonderful job with this and brings it all together beautifully at the end. I can't wait to get started on the next book in the series. I'm also looking forward to reading the few Dresden Files books from Jim Butcher. I enjoyed the television series and hope the books are even better.

Eh. This is one of those books that people fall in love with so your expectations will be too high. It's all right. It did not change my life.

This is one of those books that you should never have to read. Sadly I didn't have a choice in 12th grade English class. Enough said.

The Falls: A Novel by Joyce Carol Oates forces the reader to examine their own choices and motivation as they watch the main characters make mistakes and be led by their faulty assumptions and beliefs. I loved this book, it was not an easy or enjoyable read but the kind I jokingly say can substitute for pyscotherapy, the kind of book you need to read and helps you stretch your mind a little. In a happier novel the main characters would realize their mistakes and save themselves before it was too late, but that is not true life and this novel is very realistic. It ends on a good note and you can believe some lessons have been learned while some ghosts are finally laid to rest. The information about the Love Canal pollution scandal was very compelling and drew me to investigate the facts of the case. Its Sad that this type of corruption still exists.

Very readable. I flet like I was sitting down with an old friend as she cought me up with what had been happening in her life. What is a "normal" childhood anyway? Most of the time parents are doing the best they can, with good intenetions. Sometimes distance gives perspective. And I love reading books that I feel like I'm learning something too (not just a good story). I learned a lot more about yoga and added about a dozen new words to my vocabulary.
The book held my attention, but over and over, I kept thinking this is a combination of "Twilight", Harry Potter and "The Alchemyst". It is funny which helps to tone down the violent scenes. There is great promise in this first of the series that the rest will be better. I think Clare is finding herself and her story in this book. Hannah will love it!
