Great story!!! I thought I had figured out the plot several times and was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong! I listen to my books and this one kept me at my easel painting for many hours long after I should have stopped. Read by Scott Brick and always he did a great job with the different characters!

This was a beautifully written book, if such a thing can be said about a horrific topic such as this. It is a very short book at just over 100 pages, but those pages hold the pain, suffering and hope of so many. I actually had to put it down a couple times and step away for a few minutes. A very powerful book and one everyone should take the time to read!!

Loved it! I was totally drawn to this story and was sad to hit the last page!
wish wish wish i could write like calvino. he deals with space and place so well in this one. a great book to read while travelling--if only because the book itself is constantly in flux.

The first book I read by Russo, and the only legitimate question I have for myself is: "what took me so long?" Follow an aging man's journey to nowhere fast as he reconnects with loves ones and traipses daily with town dunces. By turns hilarious, insightful, and endearing. Set amidst one of Russo's staple, rural New England towns.

The story of the Belsey’s & how their family overcomes racial, social, life problems; Smith’s prose is really well put together, makes for a great read, though thick! “Summer left Wellington abruptly and slammed the door on the way out. The shudder sent the leaves to the ground all at once, and Zora Belsey had that strange, late-September feeling that somewhere in a small classroom with small chairs an elementary school teacher was waiting for her. It seemed wrong that she should be walking towards town without a shiny tie and pleasted skirt, without a selection of scented erasers. Time is not what it is, but how it is felt, and Zora felt no different.”
An interesting companion/alternative to Ender's Game. Not as good, but definitely worth reading if you've read Ender's Game.

I struggle with graphic novels - there is usually so much going on that I have trouble taking it all in. This one was a wonderful read, though - perhaps because so much of the story relies on silence and space, and so I was able to absorb everything in the pictures and words.
