This was a good book. Sure it lost me in the end when it decided to go all religious on me and I honestly think it could have been shorter but it was well written, excellent characters, and enough plot elements left hanging to want me to read the next book. But not right away. Have I mentioned that it's a loooonnnggggg book? **Revision of rating** Six months on and after thinking about it I've realised that I actually never want to pick up this book again and have no desire to read the next one unless I run out of books to read.

My review of Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan is based on a paperback copy of the book that I purchased for myself. The following review is my honest opinion. When I saw the trailer for the movie based on this book I knew that it was going to be something I wanted to read and immediately added it to my wish-list. I was so psyched when I found a pristine copy of this book, despite it being the movie cover and not the original, at my library's bag of books for a dollar sale. This story was startlingly true to young adult life. At least the way that I had always imagined it to be. Everything that happened in this story could realistically happen just likely wouldn't. One of my favorite aspects of the story was that it was like the snowball effect where one thing led to another, that led to dozens of others, all the while rushing down the mountain at crazed speeds. N&N bring new meaning to everything happens for a reason. I loved the voice of Norah; I saw so much of myself in her, both the me I am now and the me I was when I was actually the same age as her. The constant questioning of myself, the sarcasm to hide everything, always being the careful one who took care of those around me. Norah was me, or I was Norah. I loved reading her chapters. On the other hand I didn't like Nick's chapters quite as much...though whenever he included lyrics or the songs that were unfolding in his head as the soundtrack to the night I felt myself swooning just a little bit. All in all I think N&N was a fun, quick read and a great young adult contemporary novel. I'm giving Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist a four out of five stars review. Though I didn't find myself falling in love with the story I really did enjoy it and will probably have it making the rounds soon.

I remember reading this book and falling head over heals in love with everything about it. It has such a richly involving story that one cannot help but wish they had friends like the ones described in this gem of a book. The plot was so rich and vibrant. The history was all there, the accuracy and way things all strung together, it made this book a gooey wonder, like a freshly cracked open candy bar and was so succulent in every which way that it had to be savored over and over. When I finished this book for the first time, I began re reading right away and I have this book as an always favorite. Absolutely brilliant and fun.

What this book is missing is lists. The data is only sorted one way - by the team the player was on at the end of last season - and that makes for a pretty awkward read. I ended up abusing the index. Personally, I'd like to know BP's predictions on who's going to steal the most bases, who's going to earn the most HRs, whose ERA will be lowest after 100 innings pitched, etc.... but all you get is a player list. That makes this a little disappointing, because the reader ends up doing all the legwork - if not for BP's astounding accuracy, you might as well stick to the predicted stats available all over the place online. For statistical acumen, though, nothing that I'm aware of beats it. BP has a funny tendency to rag on its own PECOTA program and complain that its predictions have over- or underestimated a player's skills.

Really gives you a lot to think about, threw me at first with the depiction of God but get past that and there is so much there. Some say another Pilgrims Progress. Love it, had to buy it now hubby reading it, and he does not read novels.

Ella likes some Kevin Henkes books (A Good Day), but I didn't sense that she loved this one. I liked it though.

The Golden Compass was one of the best books that I have ever read filled with adventure and fantasy. This book was about a world different from ours, which isn’t that much different from ours other than the fact that each person had a partner with them that would stay with them their whole lives, daemons who can talk and change into multiple animal forms until they reach adulthood where they have to choose to stay in one form only. The main character of this story is a young girl called Lyra and her daemon Pantalaimon. In this story many children in their world are being kidnapped and experimented on because the children attract an important dust that connected to something bigger and more important. Lyra and her daemon are captured as well and sent off to a land full of snow and kept prisoner there with other children. Lyra tries to escape the prison and tries to help a new friend that she had met there as well. When I first began reading this book was confused because I didn’t really understand the situation at first, as I continued reading I started enjoying it. However when I got up to the part about the dust and particle and all those other philosophy theories I started to get confused about what they were talking about. Overall this was a great book with a good plot.

This one is great but the story line gets so frustrating with that bitch in charge!
