My sister recommended this book to me and I am still struggling through it. I get why it is interesting but it is a bit slow for me. I'll update this and give it a rating when I am finished with the book.

Recommended for my by my rather dark-humoured boyfriend, I was a little unsure as to whether or not I would actually like this book. I hate horror movies - I am the worlds biggest baby at watching anything involving 1) gore, and 2) high-drama soundtracks (i.e. jumpy music at the necessary moments), so to even consider reading a book so full of murder and gore seemed a bit ridiculous, but nevertheless, I said I would give it a try. I loved this book, and have never read anything quite like it before, or since. The drama was so intense I was captivated by what I was reading, and didn't want to put it down until I had finished. The violence was bloody and horrific, but not out of place in the slightest baring in mind the context of the book. Sadistic, evil, yet still relaying the joys and necessity of friendship, this book really is from the mind of someone quite twisted, and to say I enjoyed it worries me somewhat! Overall: If you're a lover of horror, or drama, or intense thrillers, then this is definitely one to read. Great locations, great descriptions, great characterisation.

This one touches on a lot of dark themes - death, betrayal, incest, etc. Very well done, but not one I reread nearly as often. Ado is fantastic - PC has gotten so out of control that the English teacher has to edit and censor Shakespeare for her high school class. The one play they are allowed to read ends up being a whopping three lines long.

This is too sexually explicit. I would rate this book R. Just as bad as an R rated movie.

Good story which drew me in. A proud princess learns humility but also retains her sense of self through her trials. Good girl fiction.
I'm trying to think of what audience I would want to share this with. Adults for sure. High school students, yep. Middle school, I don't think so. The description of this as a silent movie is pretty apt. I sat down with this for a few minutes and quickly lost myself in it, getting to page 78 on that first unplanned sitting. Had to go back to it after dinner and finished it then. It's just too good to stop. As for what it is...It's a memoir, a graphic novel on the par of a New Yorker issue, a coming of age story, a mystery, and on and on. It is, to put it simply, tremendous. Go read it.
Intensely touching and smart. A marvelous experience of a read. The characters live on after the last page...(I'm a sucker for a main character who loves books.)

It speaks to Stacia Kane's talent that I can be so emotionally attached to such normally unsympathetic characters. A drug addict, a drug dealer's enforcer and even the children of another rival drug dealer.... I've become completely engrossed in thier story and how it will unfold. When I first started this series I was a little unsure that this would be somthing I would connect with, much less enjoy. First off, the downside speak is something you really need to get used to, but as I became more and more sucked into each subsequent book downside speak just became somthing that was part of the charm and background of the world as a whole. Then came such normally hard to like characters, but once again as we get to know each character with each book my feelings for these people have changed. With this installment you start to understand WHY Chess is so addictd to her pills and speed, you get glimpses into her past that answer certain questions as to why she devalues her self so much. Her and Terrible's relationship is as much a character in this story as each individual person. I'm hoping with some of her revelations about how much Terrible loves her and is willing to accept her for who she is that she can start to deal with her drug use and hopefully finally free herself from it. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible.... Who knew such a strange character would become one of my favorite all time Heros. And as much as it is strange to say it, he is a hero in this series. I am desperately in love with Terrible in these books and the overall feeling I get when I read how he talks to and treats Chess. He hasn't had the easiest past to deal with either, yet he is trying just as hard as Chess to deal with their problems and be able to be together. These books wouldn't be as good as they are without the anticipation you get when you open a new book in the series and wonder how Terrible and Chess's relationship will evolve. And the love scenes... holy smokes, that scene in the car was smoking hot. I was glad that we got to see Lex again and meet his sister Blue. I can't wait to see what happens now that he has assumed such a new and dangerous position. Overall I think this is the best book in the series so far, but then again, I think that everytime we get a new release. I wasn't sure how Stacia Kane was going to top the last one but, she did. It makes me want an early copy of Chasing Magic that much more.

Read through the bible twice ... i LOVE the Old Testament. It is fascinating to me. The story of Ehud is like watching a prime-time murder mystery. The friendship described between David & Saul in sincerely above any. The classic story of David & Goliath, Noah, and Jonah & the whale ... the OT is filled with remarkable poetry and literature. The New Testament is filled with example and spirit and moral philosophy and teaching. And to have a book that chronicles the life and ministry of Jesus Christ is WOW!
