Getting back to the gritty rawness of the earlier books. This book clearly gives a picture of what it was like during that time between The Great War and World War II. I greatly enjoyed the social commentary & it was easy to read. However, I still felt that little something lacking. But not lacking to the point that I wouldn't still recommend it. So go ahead, hop on a train, take your shoes off & fall into the world of Dobbs.

flags of our fathers is a novel that I injoyed personally. But the novel had its down sides, the start of the book started off with a backround of all the characters involved in the book this took up a big part of the book. But after you get past the slow start I thurly injoyed the book because it was a detailed story from the start of the battle of iwo jima to even after the battle and how it affected the soliders that survived. I really injoyed this book it takes a while to read but in the end I realy injoyed the novel and I taught me alot about how somethings are bigger that yourself.I would recomend this book to any history fan or anyone who is interested in the story of how two flags were raised over Iwo Jima.I would give this book a 4 out of 5 due to its great detail but all so due to its slow start.
Creepy book. One of the few that I read that actually caused a rise in my personal creep meter. Jackson's literary descriptions were great.

Every Author has a purpose and it shows. Most of the time the purpose is to tell a good story and to write well. The purpose of Thomas O'Callaghan in "Bone Thief" is to make a few bucks by pretending he is writing an original horror novel. At best, this is a romance novel with a serial killer backdrop. It's not that the book is badly written (The structure is very simplistic), as much as O'Callaghan employes every cheap an tasteless device possible to lead the reader toward a pointless end. I can think of no reasons (save one) why anyone would write a romance/serial killer book, and I can think of no reason why anyone would read one. How bad is this book? At one point while discussing the case (Instead of his love life), the lead detective actually says "maybe it's like that book silence of the lambs". No it's not, and it's an insult to a fine book and Author.

Few political writers get to the heart of major issues the way James Bovard does. While this is somewhat more of a large data dump than his other titles, the book is still very informative and relevant, even years after its publication. Worth your time.

It was okay, but I expected more from Timothy Zahn. Some of the situations seemed improbable as well.
Definitely an interesting spin on a well-known story. The action moves quickly and keeps you reading, although it leaves little time for character development. Will definitely carry on to read the next book in the series...

This is an incredibly powerful & sobering look at the plight of women around the world that will compel you to take action. Personal stories are used to highlight oppression towards women, which takes many different forms -- human trafficking, sex slavery, maternal mortality, genital mutilation, lack of access to health care and basic education, among others. ". . . more girls have been killed in the last fifty years, precisely because they were girls, than men were killed in all the wars of the twentieth century. More girls are killed in this routine 'gendercide' in any one decade than people were slaughtered in all the genocides of the twentieth century." This book also provides hope in the realization that by providing women the opportunity to help themselves, they will help their families and lift their communities. They quote former UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, "It is impossible to realize our goals while discriminating against half the human race. As study after study has taught us, there is no tool for development more effective than the empowerment of women."

Almost as good as the first and so much better then the second.
