Short stories about the vietnam war. This was a subject I knew little about. It is gut-wrenching. I read this book in high school, and will never forget it. It made me feel like we had nothing in common with those who had experienced such a terrible part of history, and that our life was so easy in comparison.

I finished the book and all I want to do is read it again. Wow! What a great story. Makes me want to work on a story of my own. Once I finally got started, it's actually a fast read. Bod Owens leads the kind of life that just makes all sorts of ideas pop into the mind. His world is dark and creepy, but he's such a charming boy that you can't help but feel there is touch of comfort there, too. And I loved all the symbolism! I'd love to talk about this book with someone. My son is halfway through and I want him to finish it now. This is a copy from the library so I'm going out to buy my own copy on Friday. This is a book worth owning. (Payday!)

Both the 2 year old and the 5 year old love this book. It has fast action, sound effects, and cute illustrations. I like that you can read it in a dramatic soap opera/action drama voice.

Pettersson's best book yet! Even though it felt pretty slow for the first part of the book, it picked up speed once she got through a lot of descriptive writing. Lots of twists and turns through the action. A few jaw-dropping surprises wrapped the book up. I can hardly wait until the next book is out next year!
