I would say this was my favorite set of books ever for a long time, possibly based largely in my age (high school) when I read them. But they were so much fun!

Worst ending ever because there was no ending. It just kind of fell apart in the last chapter, like Ann Brashares didn't know how to end it...so she just decided not to.

Always fun to read a book about a city you live in...though many of the places are fictional...but spent time suspecting which place she was referring to in real life. Book was a quick, easy read; found it interesting...but not a literary giant.

The author says a whole lot with spare, elegant prose. The story of civilizations and change is encompassed in a small stone-age village of knappers -- craftsmen who make tools from stone -- and a couple of misfits, including a storyteller who delights in teasing you to decide whether he's lying or telling the truth. Excellent read.

I credit this book with starting my love of pioneer stories. Diary books are some of my favorite and this one tops them all. It is written for a young audience so keep that in mind. This will always be a favorite, and I recently passed it on to my niece. She is 8 and she loved it, so take that as a more age appropriate stamp of approval.

This is by far my favorite book. The first time I read it was in the fifth grade and the most recent time I read it was a month ago (i.e., end of my first year of college). It's the book I turn to when life sucks and I need a pick-me-up. It's a twist on Cinderella, but so cleverly disguised that the first time I read it, I didn't realize it was Cinderella until I got to the glass slipper. It's technically for children or young adults, but I recommend this book to everyone. So what if it only takes an hour to read ... that hour will be amazing.
