I just love the whole series. Lots of laughs to be had.

Nothing like the TV show, and that's a good thing. I read this whole series with my friend, and it was our guilty pleasure. That TV show is just out for cheap thrills.

There are a lot of great comic books in the world. There are few that have been as lauded as often as Watchmen has. It is the only comic book to ever win a Hugo award. It is the only comic book to ever appear on Time Magazine's "100 best English-language novels", despite not actually being a novel. It is also being made into a major motion picture that will be released in March 2009. Watchmen begins simply enough. The age of superheroes is over. Most are retired or working directly for the US Government. When the former "superhero" known as the Comedian is killed, the vigilante Rorschach begins investigating the murder. The story then begins to go in directions far removed from a simple murder mystery. In Watchmen, Alan Moore begins to play with many storytelling techniques he would latter perfect, including heavy symbolism, no thought balloons, text pieces inserted into the comic, and even a pirate comic within the comic used as a dramatic echo of the main plot. Using these tools Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons weave a complex morality play. They do not take the easy road and tell you who is right and who is wrong. Instead, they present their characters with a no win moral dilemma, and leave it up to the reader to decide who is right. Watchmen would be innovative if it was released today. It is not surprising people were stunned by it when it was first released in 1987.

Almost didn't read this one because I got the sense it was a sappy love story not to mention it was in The Oprah book Club (how humiliating) But...it was dark and not sappy and I hate to admit it but I liked it!

A really enjoyable read, even though it's clearly written for younger readers it was very easy to get caught up in the story and its strange happenings.
This is a funny book about a young man who is not very well educated and is a cab driver. He witnesses a robbery and somehow survives to find that he is getting strange messages delivered on playing cards. Through these cards/messages, he becomes more observant of people and their lives and takes steps to try to help them. Yet he doews not know who is sending the messages to him. I'm not sure if I agree with some of the actions he takes but they do seem to right for his character. Most of them are bumbling and not well-though out but create a desired result. In the end, he does discover the source of the messages and realizes "I am the message". I listened to the audiobook version and really enjoyed it, partly due to the accent of the narrator.

What a really great read!! The Vicious Deep definitely is one of my all time favorite mermaid reads and is a really great beach read (I read this one during spring break on the beach..so it got me in the perfect mood to read this book)!! One of my favorite parts about this book was that the book is told from a male point of view. Not many YA books, especially mermaid books, are told from a male perspective so it was really interesting to see a male's take on things. Zoraida Cordova does a fantastic job of making the reader feel like they are going through want Tristan is going through and she makes him really relatable as well. Tristan, probably is my new book crush, can be hysterical at times, but has his moments where he is raw with emotion and is so sincere and I really loved seeing him progress throughout the novel. Another one of my favorite parts about this book was the plot. At first, I didn't really know what to expect about The Vicious Deep. I wasn't sure if this book was about sirens, or mermaids. Once I started, however, I was immediately sucked in and could not put this book down!! I found myself staying up extra late to see what would happen to Tristan next. I don't want to give away any spoilers but I will say that Zoraida Cordova does a really great job of keeping the reader on the edge of his/her seat and making the novel extra suspenseful. Overall, I really really enjoyed The Vicious Deep and I think this has to be my new favorite mermaid book! I loved seeing things from a guys perspective and I really loved the main character Tristan. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series!! If you want a great summer paranormal read then you have to check this book out!

2. Endorsements-nya juga terlalu banyak

The Wee Free Men: A Story of Discworld by Terry Pratchett (2003): The Wee Free Men (2003): As fairy-tale monsters - and little blue thieves - start appearing around her family’s farm, Tiffany Aching discovers that with training, she may grow up to be a witch. But before any formal training can begin she finds herself the world’s only defense against a magical threat, and with the help of the little blue men must enter a dream-like kingdom and battle an evil queen. Like Card’s Ender, nine-year old Tiffany is more intelligent and captivating than many teenagers and adults, and although this fantasy novel concerns “witchcraft,” the witchcraft it promotes is far more about practical thinking than using magic. The titular “Wee Free Men,” the Nac Mac Feegle, provide a counterpoint to all this practicality and an introduction into the supernatural elements of the book, as well as comic relief, colorful (but highly accented) language, bravery, loyalty, and pride. Despite its humor and trappings of fantasy, this is the story of a girl dealing with loss and coming of age.
