A fantastic story of love, history, revenge... you name it and this book has got it. This was the first novel by Barbara Erskine and it certainly won't be the last!

4.5 stars Now, when I first saw this title I thought “Goblin, really?” but I liked the blurb. Boy, am I glad I took a chance! This was an original and dark fairy tale. And yes, a Goblin King can be sexy . More on him later… This is a paranormal romance, but Husk took the old tried and true PNR plot formula and chucked it out the window. You still have your tortured alpha male and your strong human female, but there is more to the story than a lover’s tale and the characters don’t behave in the predictable PNR fashion. There are secondary characters, like Eliza’s controlling fiancé Steve and Roan’s brother Dai that are as well developed as our hero and heroine. We even get their POV in the story. She also meshes a fairy tale like feel with the elements of a smexy PNR giving the story a wonderfully dark and desperate feel. If I had to choose I would say it could be compared to Beauty and the Beast. I don’t know much about Goblin myths, but Husk took these and combined them with a magic twist to create a savage and unique world where Roan and his men live called the Shadowlands. Roan, The Goblin King, is a delicious hero. He is fighting to... read the rest of the review: http://www.loveromancepassion.com/rev...

Slower than True Colors (read in the wrong order) but still an excellent story. The last half I couldn't put it down.

Reading "Altar of Bones" by Philip Carter was like reading a two-hour movie of the week. It's got everything you could want in a fast-paced action-oriented novel, including car chases, assassination attempts, exposed conspiracy theories, riddles, potentially supernatural elements, sexual tension, good guys, bad guys, (and sometimes you aren't sure which is which)...you get the idea. Everything but the kitchen sink is thrown at you leading to a page-turning read. "Philip Carter" is a pseudonym for an internationally renowned author. I'm not sure who it is yet but this book is obviously not a first attempt by a new author. The two main characters, while not showing National Book Award level characterization, (who would want that in a thriller book anyway?) are well drawn and for the most part, I cared what happened to them. I did have some issues with the secondary characters. There are quite a few of them and they tended to be a bit one-dimensional. Perhaps a little more characterization with fewer supporting characters might be preferable. My favorite thriller novels always have fantastic bad guys and I felt this novel fell a little short in that regard, thus knocking it down one star but still, I enjoyed this one a lot.

Kept me mesmerized all the way through. If you've read the ones prior to this book, you should definitely read this one!

I really liked it. I can feel the emotions and suffering that Katie had gone through. I love how she managed to move on and get a new life. She struggles and it made her strong, i loved how plot and how it ends. It really made me cry, definitely one of my fave Nicholas Sparks novels. :))) I recommend this book to everyone. A must read novel. :)) Good Job Nicholas Sparks. You touched our hearts one more time:)))

Maeve Binchy's books make me want to live in Ireland. This, like her other books, was a definite light, cozy 'feel good' read. Some of my favorite characters from her earlier books made brief appearances in this book and it was fun to see thay they are doing now.

The introduction alone in this book is worth the read. It's a great little book (that fits in your back pocket. Yes, your back pocket.) that is fun to pick up anytime you are bored/in chapel. Kerouac basically gave birth to the Western Haiku. Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry, typically plotted by the seasons. While Kerouac adheres to the seasonal content occasionally, he focuses on everyday happenstance. In addition, as Japanese Haiku is writ in 5-7-5 (syllable count per line), Kerouac's invintion of the Western Haiku has no fixed syllable count, but is condensed to 3 line stanzas with compacted lines. Here are some favorites: A raindrop from the roof Fell in my beer I said a joke under the stars -no laughter When the moon sinks down to the power line, I'll go in Dusk - boy smashing dandelions with a stick The cow taking a big dreamy crap, turning To look at me

The Well of Ascension is the second book in the Mistborn trilogy by science fiction and fantasy author Brandon Sanderson. Where the first book left off--the fall of the Final Empire--this book picks up the pieces as the people attempt to rebuild the city of Luthadel, which is not an easy task after being forced into submission for so long by the Lord Ruler. The transition from oppression to freedom is a difficult one when there are opposing views on how to govern the new kingdom. Corruption and political intrigue ensue, leading to conflict and war. Meanwhile, as the people battle for control of Luthadel, a spiritual war wages on, one that involves the Deepness, the mists, and the Well of Ascension. And Vin--the main character--is at the heart of this spiritual war. The reader discovers that things are not always as they appear. There is good and evil, but it is sometimes difficult to tell which one is which. Just like some of the characters in the story, we can all be deceived, especially when there are people or forces manipulating and distorting the truth. The characters in The Well of Ascension are intriguing, all with unique personalities and motivations. It's interesting to see how they interact with one another. The setting of the story is surreal and imaginitive, and the plot is always moving forward at just the right pace; I sometimes found myself wandering or questioning something, only for Sanderson to address that very issue in the next section or chapter. For me, The Well of Ascension was one of those books that I couldn't wait to get back to. I connected very well with Vin, and was always anxious to see what she would do next. I'm also anxious to see what happens next in the final book of the trilogy, Hero of Ages.
