Even after a decade this book has the magic & power to revive me when I'm feeling down & gives me hope to keep going on. Sarah, Charlie & Gladys Palmer are old friends now who are forever there to lend a shoulder to cry on, a smile and fill my days with sunshine and capture my nights with it's serene beauty. I recommend it to all thos who believe that there is a stronger power that runs this world & that power IS Love!

I'm having trouble getting into this book, but I needed a book with the number "four" in it for TNBBC's Spring Challenge, to go along with "Three Junes" and "Slaughterhouse-Five". If you can recommend another book with the number four in it, spelled out, I'd love to read something more...more...I don't know, entertaining?

I like the feisty main character. She's a witch in a world of vampires, fairies, etc... In between Charlaine Harris and Laurell K. Hamilton with a little mystery too.
The most comprehensive collection of work from the most humble of amazing poets, the most plain of beautiful poets.

This book is about how the animals on the Manor Farm rebel against the owner Mr.Jones and create their own farm "Animal Farm". This book made me think about how the futre and the way people act towards politics and how willing they are to make things "perfect".

all the books i give 3 stars that mom gives 4 or 5 stars i feel like i need to reread. this is one of them.
** spoiler alert ** My least favorite of the bunch. Now I could have just gotten sick of back to back to back Jane Austen...but I didn't like Fanny at all. I wanted the book to go in different directions and I was disappointed that it still went the way I could have called after the second chapter.
well, lets start off by saying that i really did want to like this book, but one thing is that i hated the characters. they were boring, flat, and not very well thought out. i mean the guy is battling staying away from her even though he likes her and he 'has; to show it. i found the heroine totaly boring and completly annoying. 'i hate me life. i will whine about it until my parents are fed up, and blah blah blah'. the idea was really good and which is what i was drawn to. but scenes were cut to short, not enough discription and a little sappy. there was NO tension. none. it was like 'what the heck?' i expected action, and pace. what i got? NOTHING

the first 3/4 of this book really annoyed me. Hailed on the cover as "The National Anthem for Working Mothers!" and other stuff, I took it to be something glorifying working motherhood (which it thankfully wasn't necessarily in the end). The majority of the book felt like a big whine-fest for working motherhood. It was all guilt and shame and not having enough time and the pressures of work and how awful it all is and how nobody understands and waaa waaa waaa. To its credit, the story did become more compelling and deep at some point, and the depth of the character and story did develop later on. In the end, I enjoyed it. But I felt like I had to get through a lot of whining first. I think that was the author's point, and she'd probably be annoyed at this review. It's just that it took the main character the entire book to figure out what was obvious to me (and I think the average reader) about 5 pages in. And... I dunno... I always hate being beat over the head with a stick in order to make a point.
