** spoiler alert ** I thought that this was a truly excellent book, taking a very different look into what life shouln't be like. I couldn't get over the fact that Peeta and Kat were set against eachother, even though Peeta obviously loves Kat and Kat could love him back. Near the end i was satisfied and very surprised that Kat out thought the capitol. But cliffhangers make me itch to read the second, but it isn't published yet... i can't wait till it is.

There's a lot of there there, here. Painters (like Guston) should talk.

I think I will shoot myself in the foot before I read another Phllip Roth book. He's so dark and hateful--but not in a good way. I've read plenty of dark, twisted novels, but there's something about Phillip Roth that really gets me: He hates women, for one thing. Also, he's just a big hater. ugh.

Started out strong, compelling narrative, interesting historical angle. About Half-way through, it slowed down considerably, getting bogged down in unnecessary detail. Kudos for the historical research, but the narrative structure falls flat. I would give this 2.5 stars...

It was a beautiful book, but I'm angry with Nicholas Sparks right now. 'Nuff said.

I'm generally a Grisham fan. He typically doesn't use bad language or include sex scenes. This is one of his usual law firm mystery novels. "The Firm" is still his best. The initial dilemma wasn't really believable to me. Kyle didn't commit a crime, so why allow blackmail? I was disappointed in the ending. Maybe there will be a sequel?

I read this one on the tail of Sontag and some later Barthes (On Photography and Camera Lucida) but this was impenetrable for me. It may be the best book on Semiotics ever written; I don't know. I am not the intended audience. This is strictly for the academics and those with a pointed interest in Saussure, etc.

This is the BEST relationship book I've ever read! Simple, no nonsense approach.
Interesting take on the life of a courtesan. Set in Venice, though the narrator really never warmed to the city. Makes me want to visit it anyway.

So much teen angst and stupid ideologies.
