I attended a Women's Creativity Conference at Quinnipiac University where the author of this book presented her thoughts on writing memoir as well as a description of this particular book. After she closed, at least 20 people purchased the book immediately. It reads very quickly. As a resident of Connecticut, the historical and geographical data was personally relevant, and pleasantly presented comfortably within the context of the story. The clips of the two stories that she tells here were expertly measured and drawn and when the major characters of each finally crossed paths, it was not too soon, nor too late. Mary-Ann's depiction of herself coming of age in a Northeastern town where gender and cultural distinctions were very clear if not fair is very telling in the face of the national battles that eventually ensued on both fronts. Her facing and then finding a constructive way to deal with the unspeakable tragedy that befell her community is hopeful. Highly recommend.

Weird story. Very weird. How they organize their lifestyles is so.. controlling. And no color! How can they stand it?! But, I am curious as to what happened to Jonas.. Will be reading the sequel soon..

Again, not sure what to expect but enjoyed the ride. After book 1 I wasn't sure how we could read a whole series with Artemis as a protagonist, but he's becoming more endearing

Let me start by saying this the only book about outhouses that I have ever read or plan to read. It was certainly not on my "list" of books I always keep handy, but my daughter and I were in the gift shop at the Price Tower and started flipping through this book and found it so funny we ended up buying it. It is definitely an irreverent look at architecture, but in a very light-hearted way. The book walks through the history of famous architects, staring with the pyramids, and going through the Renaissance and concluding in modern day. Highlights include Piazza Dell'Campanddumpo (Michelangelo), Taj Ma-Stall, Flushingwater (Fallingwater by Frank Lloyd Wright), and the Hancock's John Building. While the book is mostly tongue-in-cheek, it does provide a quick look at the evolution of architecture and the various movements. The book would be a perfect gift for anyone who spends just a bit too long in the bathroom...

I think she and I would have gotten along great in 4th grade.
Upon reading the Gunslinger, I immediately became addicted to this series. Went on to read the following 6 books within the next few weeks. The Dark Tower series is touted to be King's "magnun opus", and I believe it to be very true.

It only took me three days to finish this book. Most of the time I was reading it at the Board of Education when I had nothing to do. This book gave terrific insight into the match by giving detailed descriptions on what was going outside making it a unified whole. It especially gave a clear insight into Fischer's mind which repulsed me because it is the exact kind of behaviour one of the Japanese Teacher of English (JTE) exhibits. Outbursts, temper tantrums, verbal abuse (to me signs of megalomania)...these are all fine when you're reading it objectively as in the book but when you experience it first hand--you begin to detest it as I began to detest Fischer for his actions. In the book, the organizers gave many concessions to Fischer's whims. While in one school that I go to, they give too many concessions to, the obviously mentally unstable, JTE's demands. In both of these persons the organizers/higher authority would have done a tremendous amount of good to just let these people go and you wonder why they didn't just do the obvious. To disqualify Fischer for making preposterous demands. To fire the JTE for being mentally unstable. In both of these instances I find that the respective authorites fail to do their task.

Interesting story, but I'm not quite sure this title deserves the label as a Christian novel. I won't recommend it to anyone.

A wonderful book by a wonderful man. Having deployed with the 772 MP Co with Steve, I can tell you this book is not to be taken as an entirely true story. The author merges incidents and people to tell an interesting story.
Si eres un desastre, lee este libro. No hay regaños, solo hay gestión de desorden.
