Katniss Everdeen is a hunter, even though hunting is forbidden. Ever since her father died in a mine explosion, and her mother's bout with depression afterwords, it has been up to her to keep food on the table. She lives in District 12, one of the poorest Districts of Panem, in what used to be the United States. Luckily for her, many of the town officials are partial to the meat she brings back as well, and are willing to overlook her methods of procuring it. Then comes the Reaping--the yearly lottery where one boy and one girl, ages 12-18, from each district are chosen to participate in the Hunger Games. The Games are meant to keep the districts in line after a failed rebellion years ago, and remind the people of their helplessness against the Capitol. The chosen youth are put into an arena filled with natural (and unnatural) terrain, where they fight to the death. Last one standing is the victor. Everyone back at home has to watch it all on TV. This year Katniss will be one of the contenders, but it will take much more than her skill with a bow to survive. Thought-provoking, disturbing, and completely mesmerizing. Must get the sequel.

Twilight was a good book. Bella was in love with a vampire who likes to go around saving people. Edward was the vampire's name but he does'nt drink peoples blood. His family trained to drink animal blood to control their thirst.

This book is a list of random numbers. They are not truly random, though. But it was as close as they could get at the time. It can be quite contemplative. In a weird way.

Even though I thought most of the mix tapes profiled in this book were horrible (and everyone knows that you never put two songs by the same band in a row! That's lazy!), the story was touching. Yeah, I almost cried.

Good, and an interesting read despite being nearly a thousand pages long, which is certainly an accomplishment. It's a creative mix of post-apocalyptic fiction with supernatural drama. The story line and the characters are unconventional, yet they work, and the plot has an appropriate sense of a sprawling epic. I found the ending a bit unsatisfying, but the journey of reading the book made it worth it.

I just spent quite a few late nights getting through this novel, as I simply could not put it down! I've read reviews where the novel is thought to be too lengthy with too many unnecessary details used to describe each event. I personally didn't find this to be an issue, because these details really helped pull me into the story much more so than most books I've read. When I put the book down I literally had to make a conscious effort to remember that I was in my bed - in Pennsylvania - with temperatures well above 0! Although there is quite a lot of blood and gore to be had throughout (if this novel were ever turned into a movie I don't think I could stomach it!) it is horror with a purpose. Toward the end of the story it is learned why the creature is living in the arctic, why it looks the way it does and why it was stalking the men of the expedition. I especially liked the descriptions of the Inuit "Real People" customs and how it was beautifully intertwined with the story and it's effect on the characters. Awesome, awesome read!
