I liked this like I like the cherub books and a good way for children to learn about history though some of the language was 21st century.

Interesting viewpoint on why some people succeed, and other very talented people do not. Would recommend for anyone who finds themselves in a creative or career slump.

I read this book in Japan, because it was lying around, and it was in English. I finished it though. Does that mean something?

I was a bit dissatisfied with the way the characters became more shallow as the generations passed - less distinctive. Lots to ponder here, though.

1971 Newbery Medal Winner I don't remember much about this book--I read it at about the time that I moved to Japan to teach English for a year. Reading plot summaries, though, I think I remember identifying with the main character in her transformation from thinking only about herself to thinking of others. Obviously it wasn't very memorable to me, though!
interesting story of a famous woman tiger trainer....

We read this for my book club. I enjoyed reading the author's take on this section in the bible.

Could not get past the first 20 pages of the book, which had a really really drawn out... bah its not even worth describing. Also, its fine if your main character does not like cursing, and oh, keep pointing it out, ok, but the cutesy made up words to replace curse words, ugh, thats when I stopped reading.
