I remember my mother telling me she liked the interview with the vampire movie a lot, and i think i saw it but it was a long time ago, so i don't really remember having seen it, only my mother telling me she liked it. Later when i was wandering through the Goodreads pages i saw this book, and i was fairly excited with it and the whole series, more for all the good opinions about it, that i thought it was a book i should totally read, and thought i would love it. It was a nice book, i liked very much the philosophical aspects that it touches of what's good and what's evil, and how you may consider something happening to you as being damned while others might consider it a blessing. Another aspect that i found magnificent of this book was the way Rice describes everything, the feelings the vampire Louis had, his thoughts, everything was just beautiful. But also, as it was beautiful, it made a very slow read for me, and I'm a really slow reader. Anyway it was enjoyable. This story as its name says it's an interview a boy makes to a vampire, Louis, and he tells him everything he's lived since he became a vampire, his life with Lestat, everything that he lived that was important for him. For some reason, this vampire wanted the world to know, so he decided to give an interview to let everyone get an idea. What i didn't like much was that sometimes the story became so slow, and nothing really interesting seemed to be happening, and when there was something really amazing going on didn't last long. The personality of Lestat, i wanted to like him more, he's such a character, I'm not sure i like him or not. Guess I'll have to read the second book in this series The Vampire Lestat and see how it goes. Rating 3.65

This one was juuuuuuuust a hair away from a five-star rating to me. The only thing that kept it from that last star was a few sections that I just couldn't wrap my head around. I think Mieville had a solid plan for those parts, but he just didn't quite communicate them clearly enough that I really understood what was going on. That aside, this is really a treat. The world Mieville created is fun and weird, the characters are great, and the story starts off wacky and light and tumbles down into fairly heady, almost philosophical territory by the end. I love the use of words; adjectivizing nouns, onomotopoea, and sometimes simply making up words to fit his needs. Great stuff.

Now that I've finished the series, I see that the author is kind of sporadic. I didn't like Twilight all that much; I absolutely loved New Moon. I thought Eclipse was okay. The first section of Breaking Dawn was also okay. I loved the second section, which was told from Jacob's perspective. The third section returned to Bella's perspective, and was highlighted by a fabulous battle scene. The end was a little abrupt, but there is potential to continue the series by exploring other characters, such as Carlisle and Esme (how can vampires be so nice??); Alice and Jasper (so gifted! so intriguing!); the wolf packs (how can they balance their nature and their alliance?); and of course Renesmee and Jacob (what is going to happen?!).
