Is this actually classified as a YA book? I didn't think so, but it totally is. Not enough nintendo references for my taste. So very, very many cliches. I enjoyed the tip of the hat to Voltron and dude knows his Broderick. Vaguely entertaining.

Another favorite - see my review for AofGG for the feelings this evokes in me. Perhaps the first book will always be the most sparkling and comforting, but I love Anne's development into an adult. Her ability to recognize and laugh at herself and her past as she helps raise orphaned twins with Marilla is great to read, and the buds of romance with Gilbert were just as completely satisfying for me today as they were for the little romance-obsessed 8 year old who first encountered Anne.
Great lazy beach read. Same author as in her shoes.

This book is about girls from Mount Eskel, anges 12-17, who were ordered to attend the Princess Academy so that Prince Steffan could choose his bride. This was a really good book, and I enjoyed reading it! I especially liked how this book was written mainly for girls. I would definatly recommend this book for girls.

This is the last in the trilogy and deals with the difficulties of the soldiers and families as the war ends, and peace is declared. These novels are not all "gloom and doom". Don't miss them!

It's been recommended. Hope it's good. Quit reading when the story and even some of the wording found to be same as another historical novel about the same period. I'm not sure but I think both this author & Phillipa Gregory referenced the same source and used the same wording. (Neither novel contained footnotes, being historical-fiction)

This book is about how childhood imagination can move "an ordinary day" into the extraordinary. Once the initial story introduction has been done, there are no words to explain the imaginary sequence. Given this the book is highly reliant on the illustrations to drive the plot - I think they do enough, but nothing amazing. I would have expected Jack's imaginations to bring more colour into the drab everyday. However I do like the illustrative suprise a the end of the book. While I fully agree that the Children's Book Council of Australia Picture Book of the Year should be an all-ages award - finally I've found one appropriate for younger children! I've yet to read Shaun Tan's The Red Tree, given its reputation I'm amazed this book knocked it back to 'just' Honour Book.
