Funny, quirky, and a beautiful love story that left me all content and happy and dreamy. The first part was hilarious and had me laughing out loud more than once, and I loved Enigma from the start with his attitude and quirkiness. The twist towards the end hit me by surprise and gave the light and funny story a meaningful depth I didn’t expect. It was sad but heart-warming and fairytale-like and it turned me into a puddle of goo. Although this story was way too short for my taste, it was quite complex in its own way, delivering several messages that kept me thinking after I’ve finished the book.

First published in 1958, this was Patricia Moyes' first Inspector Tibbett mystery. Nicely written, decent character development, (I could tell everyone apart), and an o.k. story line. Good omen of things to come in later books.

I did really enjoy this book. Of course, I think that it would be difficult for me to not enjoy something written by John Green. Will Grayson, Will Grayson is both funny and smart. The characters were great and even if you can't find ways to relate yourself to them you still feel very attached to them. The end of this book made me just feel good. It has a fairly unsurprising ending but you will still walk away from it feeling like it was worth your time to read it.

I really detest spineless women. Through 90% of this book, I was rolling my eyes at one. The other 10%, I actually enjoyed. I was thrilled at the veterinary background because I myself am a Vet Tech and I wish there were more based in the field, but with a stronger heroine.

Having toured Southeast Asia earlier this year, I was amused to read Joseph Conrad's "Lord Jim" and to reflect upon how greatly the world changes in the span of a hundred years. There is little resemblance between modern Southeast Asia and the bygone era of "Lord Jim." The bamboo-walled kampongs have been replaced by steel-girded skyscrapers; the fishing villages with Chinese junks are now concrete harbors where Wal-Mart super-freighters lay anchored. The tales of the White Rajahs are merely faded ink on old pages in museums. Yet, even after a century, Conrad's novel of a youthful outcast whose chivalrous actions are driven by a past failure remains interesting. Although Conrad's prose is dated and Arthurian in parts, his characterization is truly excellent.

20 Đề Toán Luyện Thi Cao Đẳng - Đại Học Thư viện Sách hướng dẫn

This has to be my least favorite book written by Philippa Gregory. The main character, Margaret Beaufort, was just so unlikeable! She claimed that she was chosen by God to do great things, just like her hero, Joan of Arc. Instead she bears a single son, and decides that it God's will for him to be King of England. For being such a pious women, she is very arrogant, self-centered, and very ambitious for wealth and power, maybe even vanity (of which she so abhorred). All she wanted was for her son to be the King of England, so she could be Lady Mother, and sign her name Margaret R. Besides the very unlikeable protaganist, I found the story rather boring. We have the hear the story through her, but half of the time, she is hidden away somewhere in the countryside. She gets all her news from her husband, or from letters. I think for me personally, I just don't find The Cousin's War as fascinating as say, the story of Henry VIII, although it is interesting to learn something outside of that time period. Not my favorite book, but I will definitely keep reading all of Gregory's books.
