Technically, I did not read this book the first time. My husband read it out loud to me, because we were living overseas, and needed to do something fun in the evenings...and we didn't know many people and English language material was scarce. I loved it, and would beg him to read until he became to hoarse, and then I'd wait for the next night. (I was working on a complicated cross-stitch, or I would have read too...lest you think I'm lazy--I am, but this wasn't one of those times). Now I read the whole trilogy every couple of years. Why? Because it's that good. and yes, we own the movies--all 3, the extended dvds with the additional scenes, and all the extra documentaries and everything. And yes, we have watched all of the extras. And will again, and again. It's my precious...

I picked this up from my roommates shelf a while back....just needed something to read. It was good...but not enough to get me hooked into Picoult's other books. I read it, it was good, the end.

I found the first half of this book fascinating and inspiring. Unfortunately, the second half left somewhat of a sour taste in my mouth. I felt like there was too much of a political agenda thrown into it in the latter portion. I wish the author would have been less indulgent in those opinions because this book could have been amazing. Overall, I'm so grateful that I read it because it personalized Pakistan and Central Asia in a way that I feel like I can now visualize better what life is like there. The people who live there, the landscape, and the lifestyle because more real to me. I agree that Mortenson's wife should be given an award because I have no idea how a wife could be so supportive. Amazing.

This was a concise review of market bubbles and how we ended up in this financial mess.

** spoiler alert ** I loved "The Help" and was sad that it ended. I wanted to keep reading. Great characters. I listened on my mp3 player and the voices were awesome.

Disappointing. Some parts were good but for the most part I found this book boring. I almost didn't finish it.

I recognize that Arthurian Legends are not everyone's cup of tea, so to speak, but really, one should give this a try, forgetting Disney and Broadway and killer bunny rabbits. Consider White's prose, after drawing out the family lines of Arthur: Even if you have to read it twice, like something in a history lesson, this pedigree is a vital part of the tragedy of King Arthur. It is why Sir Thomas Malory called his very long book the Death of King Arthur. Although nine-tenths of the story seems to be about knights jousting and quests for the holy grail and things of that sort, the narrative is a whole, and it deals with the reasons why the young man came to grief in the end. It is the tragedy, Aristotelian and comprehensive tragedy, of sin coming home to roost. That is why we have to take note of the parentage of Arthur's son Mordred, and to remember, when the time comes, that the king had slept with his own sister. He did not know he was doing so, and perhaps it may have been due to her, but it seems, in tragedy, that innocence is not enough.
