It was alright. I thought it was a bit trite and the part with the monks got tedious for me.

Nice fantasy book of a quite young author, a fantasy world a la Tolkien, well described and written.

OK OK, I was on the beach. Actually got the book from library for Steve, he read it, I needed a book and picked it up. Very DUMB but fun. For the beach anyway. The funny thing is, I'm not really a fan of his music...
This book is great! I am not usually a fan of non-fiction, but this one was just so much fun as the author delved into the history of the fortune cookie and other Asian-American dishes. I heartily recommend this to everyone! It is fun and interesting and just all-around enjoyable!

I can't give any details because it has been a while since I read it but this was the first book by Crusie that I read and it got me hooked on her books.

A companion book (well, a rebuttal, really) to The Beauty Myth.
Read this for the character of Abby Normal. She's a teenage goth chick who narrates many of the chapters through her diary when chosen to become a 'minion' for a couple of freshly turned vampires. Funny stuff!

Barbara has just realized that she has to take a drug test in order to take up her next job at Walmart. She is desperately trying to get marijuana out of her system so she can get the job. I found this to be the best part of the story. It has added some humor and a slight twist to a very dry plot. The plot has become ever so repetitive in that she has written the same thing for about 100 pages. Perhaps Barbara is attempting to use this repetitive writing style to show that minimum wage jobs are repetitive and boring. I personally found this book to be quite boring. Through the first stages of the book I took a little interest in Barbara's journey. I thought it might be cool to see what minimum wage could do do in the real world. After she moved to Florida and became a house keeper, however, she wrote pretty much of doing the same thing over and over again. She would go to work and talk with her coworkers, complain about her boss, clean a house, and then go home complaining about how hard her day was. She would then go do some task to calm herself like take a long shower or a walk on the beach. Reading this same scenario again and again occasionally put me to sleep.
