Read this one a few years ago. Typical Jody Picoult. Good read, but I didn't like the ending.

3.5 The subject matter of this book is definitely important, and it seems to be the first foray into this historical moment that is targeted at the YA market. The book is definitely appropriate for young adults, and I think that teens would respond well to the characters. However, the novel does suffer from a lack of writing finesse - the ending basically drops off of a cliff and there's a strange, tacked on epilogue that only makes sense when you read the author's afterward (which seemed more genuine and emotionally resonant than the novel itself).

I loved this book. It is the perfect bring-to-the-beach mind candy read. So good.

Very informative. A little out-dated: They still note the USCG as part of the Navy, which it is now Homeland Security and the pay scales are from 2003. Other than that...very detailed!
A delightful picture book! This is the true story of a "miracle colt" told from his point of view. Twister tells the tale of his home at Longmeadow Rescue Ranch. He was born to a pregnant mare that survived a tractor trailer accident on the highway. The horses had all been headed for a meat-packing plant. The other horses are introduced with side-bars and captivating art work. The book is uplifting and heartwarming for a reader of any age, no matter if you are a horse lover or not. It is a story that ends "happily ever after".

I am a bit of a sucker for dystopian society impossible romances (i.e. The Hunger Games) and this book was a pretty good representation of the genre. I thought that the whole "matchmaking taken to extremes" theme was an interesting and relevant one, given all the dating shows and websites that are out there. At times, "Matched" was a little tweeny, but overall the story moved quickly, the protagonist was relatable (i.e. you didn't want to killer like you do some heroines [see Bella Swan]). I'm interested to see where the series will go in the next book.
