Once again, I've read companion books out of order. I wouldn't consider The Godmother and The Stepmother a series, but more of a companion to each other. Both feature Tessa King. I found this to be not as well done as The Stepmother, and didn't enjoy it as much, perhaps because I knew what was coming in Tessa's life. This focuses on Tessa's friendships and her role as the godmother to her four godchildren and how she meddles and fixes her friends problems. One thing which bugged me was how the names of James' children changed from The Godmother to The Stepmother. Anyway, still not a bad read to pass the time.

Not necessarily bad, just really not too my taste. Plus a rather awful translation, I am afraid.

I adore this book. It captivated me with every page. I love the way the author wrote the story in letter form. Absolutely Charming. I am in love with Guernsey and can not wait to visit. I loved learning about this island during the war. Such learning to be had through this lovely story.

The poor Irish immigrants. Even in 1840's Australia they got a bad deal. No way to go but in to crime. A good cowboy story.

Some entertaining essays, but mostly I think that if I ever encountered Chuck Klosterman in the real world, I'd do everything possible to avoid eye contact. Also, this is not a manifesto.

meh. I really do try to remain open minded when someone offers me books like this, but I have to admit that even then I find pop spirituality to be heavy on the 'pop'.

It's romance, sci-fi, drama, suspense...all wrapped in one. Henry time-travels, unwillingly; Claire has known him since her childhood but he doesn't meet her until he is an adult. I can't go into any more because I don't want to spoil any of the beauty of this book, but it's gripping and sweet and heartbreaking all at once. Read it.

I have more than a passing interest in photography and have developed some technical skill, but I'd still say I'm at the intermediate level. This was a good book for me because it reinforced some of the things I'm doing right, gave me some accessible ideas for how I can improve and was written in a very down-to-earth way (I find a lot of photography books really self-centred). I also really liked that the book reinforced greatly that it's not the camera that takes great pictures. Much of what the author published in the book was taken with a <5MP, turn of the century point and shoot camera. In fact, he's inspired me to find a cheap, older point and shoot so that I can always have a good quality camera with some manual adjustments with me without having to cart around my DSLR.
