Kinda fun, kinda trashy - disguises itself thinly as literature. I read it because my daughter's European History teacher recommended it... kinda makes me wonder about his commitment to scholarship.

Just like the first book, this book had me laughing I was sort of glad that Darcy was able to turn back human, the best part were the women in the harem they are so set in there way of time that they had me say "what" entire time. On with the next book.

People and societies polluting their environments to the brink of disaster seems like a 20th century problem. The bad news is that we have been at it for a very long time - Diamond traces multiple civilizations that faced environment challenges and analyzes how they fared. The Mayas, Easter Islanders, Vikings in Greenland are examples of societies that didnt make it past their environment. Diamond also looks at contemporary societies like Montana (mines, agriculture), Australia (invasives, water, geographical isolation, growth rate of vegetation) and China (water, population, growth)to examine how they are faring against the key issues. Overall a good subject and clearly Diamond is an authority at this - but the editing and writing style sometimes gets in the way.

fabulous book. a must read. i loved it.
Another great book by William Gibson, this might be considered the second book of the Sprawl Trilogy. There are some references to the first book "Neuromancer" and if you have not read it i recommend it because this is the father/mother of present day cyberpunk literature and culture. Not knowing this is a serious gap in one`s education and culture. Count Zero has 3 main stories that are all connected, Turner a rogue mercenary working by the contract and with a quirky morality, Marly the art expert and bad relationship expert and finally Bobby or "Count Zero" has he would like to be known who aspires to be a console jockey. This is a different take on Neuromancer`s world, less tech and more organics. Less Chiba and more Paris. This is a rather enjoyable book that leaves you craving for the next in the series, "Mona Lisa Overdrive".

I will write a review in the morning as I can't do it now. But all i can say is that this book deserves 1000000000* stars and that Cassandra Clare is one of the few authors if not the only who can rip my heart in two, then sew it back and the tear the stitches leaving a fresh wound once more. Pre-book release: I NEED to read this ASAP!!!!!
This is more of an inspirational book. It goes along nicely with the Shutter Sisters Website http://shuttersisters.com It really gets you thinking about how to frame your pictures, turning them from snapshots into more thoughtful art. A fantastic reference book I'll be going to again and again!

For one who grew up with an interest in the nexus of secret societies and religion, this book failed to satisfy. I had read all of the background material (Masonic, Templar, Manly P. Hall's stuff) before Dan Brown had thought to author this. So to read how he applied these myths and ledgends was a disappointment. Brown needs to look to Umberto Eco - in fact, I see this story as a hackneyed attempt at simplifying and Americanizing Foucault's Pendulum...
