The problem with Douglas Coupland books is that all the characters sound exactly the same. It doesn't matter what weird characteristics Coupland has given them, what situation they've been put into, or what they are supposed to be in life, every time his characters speak, they all sound the same. Almost as if all the worlds he creates in his novels are populated by clones of himself. Entire worlds of Douglas Couplands.

This was my least favorite of all four books of the Twilight Saga, but that doesn't make it a bad book. In fact, i thought it was very well written, and Stephenie Meyer, instead of writing what she wanted her characters to do, wrote what her characters would do. She developed her characters so well in the first book, Twilight, that she had less room to manipulate them.

The author, and her family (and the many outback families like hers, as well, I'm sure), lead a really interesting life. Kind of sad-to-bittersweet, but touching, charming.

With a book like this, it’s near impossible to express my absolute love and excitement minus any spoilers, but I will try. Be warned I babble a lot too. Eek. I cannot believe that everything that has happened in this series time line has only taken place over the last 6 months. Is that right? It seems like it should be years. And, no, that is not a bad thing. However, we are definitely moving forward with the power of a steam engine! This was one of the most thrilling, heart wrenching books yet, so be prepared for one hell of a rollercoaster ride! Dams will break, floods will rage. Anger, frustration, sadness, fear and love will swirl like a tornado in your heart and mind. You know what, I’m not sure you can tell I really liked this book. Hmm. :) Poor Kaylee has such a whirlwind ahead of her as she goes through equal stages of denial, anger, avoidance, panic and acceptance. So, as I’m sure you already know, Kaylees' time is almost up. All she wants now is a worthwhile distraction so she doesn’t have to sit around and wallow in grief and misery wondering about the finer details she can’t even imagine. Good thing her new math teacher is an Incubus looking for some viable wombs to carry his child. Who also possibly has a forked penis! LOL Just wait until you read it. While trying to deal with the Incubus, Kaylee is also somewhat unconsciously trying to make sure everyone she loves will be okay after she is gone. She also, in a moment of hilarity to her dad, declares herself an emancipated minor, and decides she will do what she wants, how she wants, and requests the freedom for anything she has in mind. One of which is to not die a virgin. To quote my 11yo “Dun, Dun, Duuunnn.” He he. OH SCEW IT! I CANNOT DO IT! I NEED TO TALK ABOUT THIS! !!!BE WARNED! THERE BE SPOILERS AHEAD!!!! Kaylee does attempt to initiate sex with Nash. The opportunity presents itself multiple times and she isn’t sure if it’s just the novelty or the desire driving her. Of course, there are a few roadblocks on this path, namely Sabine & Tod. But you will just have to read about those! I also cannot help thinking after Kaylees first attempt with Nash, it ends up being all he thinks about. But, hey, he is a teenage male. However, when Tod secretly does one of the most selfless, romantic things for Kaylee, she finally sees what she has been blind to for so long and :squee: kisses Tod. And he kisses her right back! (Rachel Vincent did say a while ago there will be lots of kissing, and she did not disappoint.) However, Nash and half the school end up witnessing this kiss, so lots of harsh words & break-ups ensue. On a quick side note, I must say I just love the swirling eyes showing emotions. Such a great idea that I never get tired of. Until now, Kaylee has been trying to hold on to Nash and make things work, but with the freedom to do what she wants without worrying about the consequences, she realizes it really is over. To quote Kaylee: “…I didn’t realize it wasn’t really working until I felt something that did work.” There is soooo much more Tod in this book! I was either laughing out loud, squeeing with delight, even swooning to my sweet death with the heartfelt words that poured from his mouth. My God, who knew the Reaper with the best snark & remarkably coincidental timing, would have such a romantic heart! ”As far as I’m concerned…There’s nothing but us.” I think I swooned so much during this book; I’m surprised I can stand anymore. Kaylee and Tod are so perfect together! It’s like something finally clicked and all I could think is “YES! This is SO right.” Even though it is destined to only last a couple more days. “But then you saw, and you kissed me, and that changed everything for me, and now I only know two things for sure.” “What things?” “I know that you and I belong together. And I know that it’s too late for that to matter.” I will not say what the outcome of the Incubus teacher is. I will not tell you the finer details of the relationships. They are way too precious, gut wrenching, and unbelievable to spoil. And I sure as hell won’t tell you the outcome of Kaylees impending death. I will however tell you that if you are not reading this series, you are sorely missing out. Always the books rip the emotional reactions from me that I love the best, and I seriously loved this one. I also see insurmountable possibilities for future books and cannot wait to get my grubby little paws on more of this series. Therefore, now all I can wonder is… WHAT IS NEXT?

This one is a total mind bender and I loved it even more because of the references to The Great Gatsby!

Funny, warm, brilliant. Probably the best biography I've ever read. Five stars really isn't enough. The story of a man who dropped out of second grade, who was by his own admission functionally illiterate, yet rubbed elbows with the likes of Alex Woolcutt and Dorothy Parker, was a member of the famed Algonquin Round Table; was born to a poor New York family and came up in the world to fame and fortune, a goodwill ambassador to the world, and beloved of millions -- Harpo Marx tells one hell of a great story.

I just read this on Kindle and I loved this book. I was able to easily feel the range of emotions of the main character and I fell in love with Cannie. From her humorous view of life, a bit tainted by lifelong disappointments and crushed expectations, but still funny to the moments that just made me cry. I found myself in tears a few times and realized it had been a long time since a book moved me to feel so much emotion. I also love that the main character is a plus size woman but the book does not focus so much on her weight issues and it doesn't end with her being suddenly skinny and in a new life! Can't wait to read more of Jennifer Weiners books !
