Two and a half stars. I spent the first half of the book trying to figure out if I had missed a book in the series, since some of the events seemed to follow directly from the previous one, but there were references to Sookie's cousin Hadley, and the Queen of Louisiana, which just baffled me. Turns out there is a short story in between. Which now I don't need to read, because the exposition reminding readers of everything that has come before, just in case they missed the previous books, or it's been years since they've read them, recounted the plot. In fact, every book in this series recaps the previous books. At some point there will be no room for new story. Felt like a real rushed exposition-y ending, too. And the bits of plot never really meshed with each other, which - when it's done right, it's fabulous, but Harris doesn't have it down, or maybe she just doesn't bother. On the other hand, I did like the Queen's backstory, and learning more about fairies, and the witches are nifty, too.

It’s a fairly typical story--a young man teaching English in Korea is on the verge of a burnout; he’s homesick and hates everything about Korea, wants to quit and move back to Canada, etc, etc. But then meets the hot new secretary of the school and is conflicted re: quitting and moving. Though he can’t work up the nerve to talk to her about anything other than making photocopies for his classes. Woo. It’s no great shakes, but it’s not bad.

Another page turner! A look at the underside of Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs. It helps to read these books in order, but not necessary, you just might spoil your anxiety about one or more of the continuing characters but the thriller is still intact.
LOVED this book. Such a great story and different from other things I have read. I loved the interesting combination of characters, it was unexpected and intriguing.

Certainly nothing literary or mature about this, but I was rolling.

Know I was assigned to read it and that I did all my reading for my Shakespeare class, but I don't remember this one at all from the plot summary.

Too much exposition, not enough dialogue. The first part of this book is slow, speed-readable, and could have easily been condensed/edited-down to half its size. Everything changes in the final third of the story which is full of tense action and interaction, and kept me on the hook long enough to actually be disappointed at the cliffhanger ending. Now I basically HAVE to read The Year of the Flood to find out how Oryx and Crake ends. Clever clever, Mrs. Atwood. I always suspected that giant frizzy gray dome that you call hair was actually hiding a supersized brain.

I haven't read much by Patterson but after this book I definitely will. It was interesting from start to finish and I could not put it down. Non stop action and changes to the story. I couldn't wait to see how it all unfolded and there was no way that I could ever have guessed the outcome. A definite read for anyone who likes a fast moving, intriguing story.

This was the first time I read anything by James Patterson. I would recommend Sundays at Tiffany's since it was an interesting and unpredicatable story. Patterson writes this book just as he says he does - for those who love to read and want to be captured in a good story. Jane is a predictable character who is lonely, looking for life, and is stuck in the past. She grows up later on in life when her past catches up to her through her friend Michael. I think the story could have been developed a little bit further, but for some reason it seemed rushed and the story ended as quickly as it began. Patterson could have developed the characters a little bit further and put a little bit more passion into the main characters' story and romance. This book is similar in nature to The Time Traveler's Wife, which I preferred to this story.
I just about gave up the first section of the book. I am so glad I didn't. The first part of the book explains the book but it is slow. This book tells stories of several people but you don't have to pay attenditon to detail super close. I love the spells of the garden. The apple tree that is either envy or curse to others and how the sister bury the apples. I love the sisters story and how they become close friends. Not going into detail each life story has modern problems and the outcome seems to work for everyone well. My favorite part is the epiloge. It explains which plant you can use to cast your own spell and what type of spell - maybe my next niche.
