A friend loaned me this book, after insisting several times that I must read it. It was an easy read, overtly as well as overly sentimental - but not really in a good way. The basic story is fine, but I felt the story was written to show off what a good guy the writer was for visiting someone in his past who he probably should have been visiting all along. His own pat on his own back. It wasn't great, wasn't wonderfully written, but I can't honestly say it was horrible, either.
This is really good romance with a good mystery/suspense side. A very enjoyable read. It made me laugh out loud, and oh wow, it gets awfully steamy at times.
I started reading this books two years ago, and I'm just now finishing it. Like, what the fudge? But I don't know why I stopped. Maybe it's because I had too much to read?! Or maybe it was because that was the time when I actually got into reading, and maybe didn't understand it. Thanks Twilight. Anyway. I really liked this book. I should have read this series when I first got it. (Which was the first three books.) I liked the fact of the Silver Bloods. That was nice twist. But since I'm late on reading this series, and I've heard a lot about it, I take it vampires aren't the only supernatural/paranormal being in this series. And that's why I'm definitely going to read the series. I mean, I have all of the books except for the last one. :D Okay. About the characters; I hate Mimi, I'm okay with Jack, I like Bliss, I love Oliver, and Schuyler is alright. And exactly how to you pronounce her name? Is it Sky-ler? Because Oliver's nickname for her is 'Sky'. Or is it Shoo-ler? So confusing! D:
Beautifully written with lots of big words like susuration. A lovely story of an Australian girl who can't find love from her parents but finds it from her aboriginal domestic. I will find other books by Gail Jones.

I've read this book a few times and it is one of my absolute favorites. The development of the relationship is so subtle, that you almost don't realized how attached you feel to it until it goes wrong and you feel like your gut has been ripped out. Absolute Classic Masterpiece.

We met Detective Jeremy Lawson in A Helping Hand as Deputy Rich's friends-with-benes. He was actually too good to be true in that book. No one loves his friend for 5 years and is just cool with encouraging him to find his own true love. So I'm happy that he's getting his own book. We also met David in Hidden Forcewhere he was Ryan's closeted ex. I didn't love David as much as I loved Jeremy, but it was interesting to watch these two meet up. I thought the mystery in this book was not as exciting as the the first book, but overall, I did think this was a good read. I would have liked the book to be a little longer.
When I read the synopsis of this book I was expecting the normal, run of the mill contemporary fiction book. In fact, what Ms. Chan has given us in her first outing as an author is more than that. She has a wonderfully descriptive writing style that is easy to read. Her descriptions of living with Social Anxiety Disorder, everyday life in a small Vermont town, and the landscape of Vermont are spot on. The characters in the book are wonderfully developed. Most of them are flawed in some way. As Mary (the main protagonist) likes to say, "no one is perfect". It is these imperfections that Ms. Chan gives her characters, even the most subsidiary ones, that make them endearing. From early on, I felt that I was catching up with old familiar friends. The combination of her descriptive writing and the development of wonderful characters makes this book a delightful read. I enjoyed it quite a bit and really hope that Ms. Chan will write more novels. The bad news is that currently the book is only available as an e-book on Smashwords, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble (not sure if it is other places as well). The good news is as such it is only .99, which is a real bargain for a book this good. I have no doubt as word gets around, though, that someone will want to publish it in print format.
i like the book because i lovvvvvvvvve animals!!!!
This a very nice story and is one of my Favorites
