With Jodi Picoult, it's often "hit and miss" with regards to whether or not I'll enjoy one of her books. This one was a hit.

The librarian said this is a popular book and like usual popular = awful. It took quite a while of build up to get to the point of the story. After the first 1/3 it moved pretty decently though. There was some explicit sex scene stuff in there that is not my sort of thing. I failed to see the suspense they said there would be on the cover. A bit of a twisted story. Over all a really fast read at most it was 2 hrs for me.

Let me start by saying that adore Susan Colasanti and LOVE her books; but this book was OKAY. I like the principle of three points of views, but going over everything three times was very annoying and slow moving. I didn’t feel connected with the characters. There are things I like about the book: like Danny, Nicole’s ex-boyfriend, super sweet and caring. Also, the book has a very satisfying retribution to the school bully. I gave it 3.5/5

I struggled more with The Lady or Rivers than I usually do with a Philippa Gregory book - I might try returning to this one at some point, but at the moment there is just a lot more out there that I would rather be reading.

Bryson's travel writings are full of odd, laugh-out-loud moments. His English writings are much less so. However, you've got to appreciate a guy who makes the history of the English language not only a pleasant read, but also occasionally funny. The fact that it's so un-scholarly is what makes it worth reading, even if I disagreed with him on a number of occasions.
