I can't believe how much I loved these books. Again I love children's and young adult literature, not, as the author says, because I am 12 in my head, but because it is wonderful to know it won't have scenes I'd rather not see described. (There is some swearing in these, but not bad or excessive. I actually LOVE it when it says "he uttered something unprintable" or "he swore under his breath" unlike many modern "adult" books. I don't live in the army or the streets so I don't need to hear it. Isn't printed word for vocabulary and creativity better than that? rant over.) I also love when women can write strong battle scenes, rescuing "knights" AND strong female characters who save the others, through more feminine means. And I adore happy endings and complete wrap ups, then to go back and read the detail knowing where it is going. No matter what some say, I believe stories are for feeling and experiencing as long as a happy, complete ending allows you to come back whole to your life.

I liked this book. I didn't LOVE this book. I'm not sure why. I did learn that Mario Batali is a total nutcase. Did everyone else know that already? Maybe I'm behind the times. But now I watch with Iron Chef America with extreme interest. It was an enjoyable read, but not my favorite chef book.

After reading the Lunamorte series I was waiting to read the Warriors of ankh series. I loved Blood will tell. It was different than the regular ya books that have come out( you know the vampires, fairies, witches, shapeshifters and Angels). I bought this book for my kindle on the first day and was so excited!!! It continues with Eden going to Scotland to become a full fleged Ankh and rid her self of her souleater part. This is what the plot surrounds but what I was waiting for was Noah and Eden's relationship to blossom. Eden was still very angry at Noah for playing the role of her friend as a mission. Yes, in some parts she knows he was doing the right thing but that still doesn't ease the pain of your bestfriend lying, and hiding. Eden feels she does not know who Noah really is and cannot trust him. What messes up their relationship even more is that Noah had a girlfriend and said girlfriend killed Eden's brother Stellan. I love how Samantha Young did not automtically make Noah and Eden fall in love. They were friends first and we see throughout both books how their relationship grows. We also see what a superciliouse ediot Noah is !!!!!ahhhhh!!. I sometimes got really annoyed of all the girls that were just lining up and I guess that is what Samantha Young wanted us to feel. Over all I really enjoyed this book and am waiting for the next one!!!!!!!

I LOVED this book! Absolutely devoured it. It just goes to show you that certain books just resonate more than others depending on what you like as a reader. I guess I'm one of those "simple" readers who just loves your good ol' fashioned fantasy where the hero gets the girl and vanquishes the villain. I think some would argue that as his debut novel, Manning didn't have the most elevated prose, things happened all too conveniently and fast (in both the world of love and magic), and the villain really gets his ass kicked in a very satisfying way. But who cares? All those things I mentioned above were not detractors for me - they were strengths. Sometimes, I just want to be entertained, and I don't need someone to tell me that the "silence was threefold" and then go into some poetic, epic rant as to why this is true. I was thoroughly entertained reading this novel, and I look forward to more Manning books in the future.

Book #27 of 2009 This was a rather strange book that I found I quite enjoyed. It was kind of fun to read all of these fairytale characters coming to life and contemporary Russians taking their very existense in stride... just like a good Russian would do! (A Russian peasant would know this after all...) I have only minor complaints, one is that we never meet Baba Yaga and that is sad (I know I said there was a Baba Yaga "sighting", she is mentioned, just never turns up as a character). There are also no talking headhogs but there is a rather wise talking cow, which I guess will do. I own this book

An interesting book with a new take on "monsters". While it is not the strongest in terms of dialogue, "We Kill Monsters" is an enjoyable book that is very light hearted and full of comedy.

I've had this book on my mountainous To-Read list for well over three years. It's not the longest that a book has been on the list, but it's up there, and I think it's a shame it took me this long to get to this book. Because I really loved it. I thought it was gorgeously written, compelling, and intriguing, and it engrossed me almost from start to finish. I really enjoyed the characters, and man, would I have LOVED to read Julian Carax's books. They sound amazing. *ahem* Mr. Ruiz Zafón? I hope you wouldn't take it the wrong way if I were to ask if you might have copies of Carax's books, and say, if I were to humbly request that you publish them in English post-haste and then send me review copies? Whattaya say? Ehh? No? *sigh* Well, a girl can dream. I did love the circular nature of the story, and how every little story was a piece to the larger story, and how all of them were entwined with each other. If I had one complaint, it was that Daniel's and Julian's stories mirrored each other a little too closely. But that's a minor complaint, because I did like the similarities and the feeling of deja vu this led to, but it just seemed constructed that way, and I would have liked a little more variance than just the good luck vs bad luck divide. I was fascinated by Javier Fumero. He's the epitome of patience and planning, and that's what makes him so creepy. You never know where he's going to be, what he'll do, or when... you just know that he will be there some day, waiting for you, with an authority that allows him to do anything and get away with it. Terrifying! On the flip side was Fermin, who was hilarious and never ever at a loss for words. I loved his character, and I hope that maybe we might see more of him, perhaps? I really loved the mystery aspect, and though I figured out Lain Coubert's significance about mid-way through, I didn't feel disappointed like I usually do when I solve a mystery before the big reveal. I enjoyed the journey of hitching a ride with Daniel as he figured it out for himself. This is a fantastic story, and one I highly recommend. I can't wait to read more in this series, and more of Ruiz Zafón's (and Carax's... please please please!!) books.
