Honestly, not that enjoyable, but Jack and Warren wrote it as children, so pretty darn impressive.

liked her first book better, I got a little tired of too many resturants she visited towards the end, can totally agree that who you are or who you are with when you walk into certain resturants will determine your service, quality of food, seating and the overall enjoyment of the resturant. I guess I feel that a lot when I walk into a nice resturant with my five kids falling in after me. But we have the money and we have the manners, but sometimes the waiters and workers see it differently. You have to read the book to understand what I am trying to say. Let me know what you think.

I had to read Red Gold immediately after The World at Night to learn the conclusion to the tale of Jean Casson. This was the first time in a long time that I burned through a book in three days. I was a little frustrated by the end, but I can understand the need to balance respect for the likely historical outcome for a man like Casson with the author's and the reader's affection for him.

This is one of those rare books that function on many levels - it tackles big topics (love, death) with humor and intelligence, but it also reads as a very entertaining story about an earnest little boy facing a big dilemma. Along with Hilary McKay, David Almond and Michael Morpurgo, Cottrell Boyce is one of the most original and talented writers of children's literature around today - and also one whose works stand up equally well for adult readers.

John. John, John, John. I love you. You're my favorite actor and my favorite singer. But honey, you can't read audio books. At all. I should be able to tell the difference between dialogue and exposition, and you...no. Please refrain from trying again. It didn't help that all the reasons I gave the book version five stars were edited out of this version.

There really isn't much I can say about this, other than the fact that I am simultaneously amused and appalled that my twelve-year-old self liked this book so much. In fairness, it's not that Anderson is a bad writer, though his characterisation makes me want to smack him frequently; it's just that I could only contain my laughter up to the time he describes one of the characters looking out at the city of Coruscant bathed in starlight. You know. Coruscant. The planet the entire surface of which is covered in buildings. And that was about ten pages in.
