Speaking of talking dragons.... Ok, yes this series has talking dragons in it too. However, I totally recommend it. Loved these! Loved the fictionalizing of history. I usually like anything that's a retelling of a comman story we all know. (Like the Mists of Avalon and The Winter King) There is no magic or supernatural in these. The stories have the back drop of England during the Napoleonic wars, however it just so happens that dragons exists in the world. Very interesting as you discover the nature of the relationship between dragons and humans within the different cultures of the world. Lots of allegory here. I'd recommend these to Joey, Kevin and Holly, if they could get past the talking dragons :-) Also, my co-worker has the 1st one, if anyone wants to borrow, let me know and I'll see when I can get it back.

I liked this book because it had 2 of my favorite things it's related to video games and the beginning is pretty confusing. But after a while of frustation and anger I finally understood the book and what it was about and like what the title says it's pretty darn EPIC. I'll give you a summary. A boy named Erik he lives in the poorest places and he plays this game called EPIC with his friends... Well making a summary is hard JUST READ THE BOOK because I loved this book and it has a sequel to it too its called SAGA which I am reading right now. I recomend this to the first time kids and teens but you know kids VIDEO GAMES+BOOK= ALL DAY READING and teens will like this book because nice plot and some shocking events just read it teens CAUSE I KNOW YOU WILL LIKE IT. Genre- realistic fiction

While I found some of the jokes funny, I didn't get many of them. Ah well, I rarely get the punchline anyway. I was a little disappointed, though. Especially with the sub-section about Feminism, which pretty much only had philosophy "bashing" feminism, not explaining the philosophy of feminism. I don't know much about the other types of philosophy, so I can't quite comment in the same way. This was definitely a simpleton's guide to philosophy. They weren't too in depth on anything.

Everyone should read this book. There's something timeless about it, the fact that Apocolypse Now was based on it tells of this nature. Just a darn good read!

I read this after "Stardust" and it was much darker and a bit of a heavier read. Took a bit to get into, but still very intriguing. The whole concept of the Below world was crazy and I loved it. The BBC miniseries wasn't nearly as good as it could've been though, I thought. Of course, reading you always visualize things differently.

Leary and Mundy take on wogs with designs on setting up a tinpot empire on the edge of Cinnabar space. As usual the storytelling is good, the characters are terrific, the writing is really annoying---Drake repeats himself over and over again repeatedly, explains the same insights into characters over and over, has Adele "grin" about 90 times and reflect on her own emotional detachment repeatedly over and over. It's like the author is writing for readers who can't remember anything that happened more than a few pages ago. Best read by skimming---and it repays that, believe it or not.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in order to review it. I am so glad I did! While I am not a writer (as you can probably tell from my review), I am an avid reader, and was very happy to find this little gem among the many rough books I've received to review. The plot kept moving forward at a good pace. The writing was crisp, clean, and well edited. I was able to connect with the characters as they matured throughout the course of the book. I appreciated the straightforwardness of the writing, with no flashbacks, flash forwards, or other distractions. The product description provides a good glimpse into the story. In short, I loved the book and can't wait to learn more about Trang and the alien races, especially the White Spiders, in future books. Thank you, Mary Sisson, for such a pleasurable read.
