It's Joyce: half-crazed stream-of-consciousness rambling that is so much fun.

A perfectly tolerable, if not exciting, summer read. Especially good for while exercising.

This book highlights the role that philosophy can play in unravelling controversial current affairs issues in order to make sound judgements about where the truth lies. Baggini presents philosophy as a practical tool in critical thinking and applies it to several well known issues from GM foods to recent wars. Although his arguments are generally well thought out, his reasoning is occasionally marred by his bias towards atheism.

In the beginning the idea of an "imaginary friend" didn't really settle right--I guess mostly because the writer moves from past to present and I wasn't catching on to what the story was all about. Once I got the hang of it, it was an entertaining quick read.
This bok si one of those I read when I was a bored teenager and then through the years I have kept on going back to it , every time it gets better and batter. As an adventure story it is awesome and as an autobiography it is stunning. Kind of makes me want to find some iland prison to escape from.. In shor - this book rocks.

I was determined to read this one, as the follow-up to the first book that I reviewed here previously. I got this book for free at the same time as the first, but it looks like the price has now gone up to a very reasonable £1.99. I’d say that comparatively speaking, the prices are very reflective of the source material. This second book was a lot less depressing than the first, and whilst still giving a lot of in insight to how idiotic both humankind, and the NHS bureaucracy, can be, it was a tiny bit more uplifting. It’s very telling that towards the very end of the book, Tom/Brian starts questioning why he continues to do the job. I think the last time I checked the site, he had transferred to a nursing unit somewhere, putting his skills to a less mobile use! Anyway, if you enjoyed the first, you will definitely like this one, and if you were a bit skeptical of the first, then you might like this one better. If you didn’t like, or weren’t interested in, the first one then steer clear, as this is very much more of the same. I have found another Kindle book about life inside hospitals, so look for a similar review coming soon!

This was a pretty amazing story of survival. It's amazing that a family could be imprisoned for 20 years in modern times, but it happened, and I'm sure it happens in secret in many parts of the world, too. Eye-opening.
The world is different and new through this boy's eyes and I like it. I thought he was a heroic character--someone I wanted to cheer for. I am interested what his "big" legacy will be. Overall a good story and interesting plot with relateable characters that changed, grew and became more through the book.

Read this book with my 5-year old daughter (now twice) and she loves the story. She repeats everything that happens in the chapters we read each night to her daddy when he comes up to put her to sleep.
