I don't usually like mysteries, but this was a great story with interesting characters. Many plot twists... conspiracy theory...

Gorgeous and lush. This contains Brathwaite's poem on the occasion of 9/11.

** spoiler alert ** This has to be one of my favourites so far in the Dark-Hunter series. It had me in tears at least 3 times <3 I adore the way Kenyon writes it always flows so smoothly. Kiss of the night is the story of Wulf an ancient Viking warrior/ dark-hunter who nobody (except for those of his bloodline and other dark-hunters) can remember 5 minutes after meeting him & Cassandra Half human/Half Appolite who is nearing her 27th birthday (and we know what that means) The sworn enemies are thrown together and i must say it was a brilliant story...

I must say this is only the second story in the series and yet I am sooo in love with Lucien and Anya has me cracking up with every other sentence that comes out of her mouth... What a great story. I def recommend it so far. But I wonder what will happen with Reyes and Paris now... sad Oh I hate to stop right I am so curious about everything that is happening!!

Really like it! Read it in two days, its a very quick read. I am looking forward to reading the two companion books 'Gathering Blue' and 'Messenger'. It really gives a simple message of importance to the things that we all take for granted every day: the love of family and the vibrance of life.

Just Like Sugaaaaaar Well. I loved it if that isn't obvious from the star rating. This actually my favorite book from thos author. What do you think of when you think Sean Michael books? Repetitive phrasing, simple sentences, sex. A LOT of sex. This book? Not so much. Oh, the repetitiveness and simple sentences are still there but there's more story because there's less sex. I adore that. I usually skim as fast as possible through Michael's coupious number of sex scenes but I didn't have to do that with this one. Yay! Eric's three year old daughter has been kidnapped and he needs a crap load of money and comfort fast. The first guy he thinks of is his shark of a businessman ex-lover, Brock. Brock to the rescue, y'all. That's pretty much what the whole book is about; these two forming a family and Brock being the backbone. It's pretty straightforward. It's so uncomplicated that I can't help but love this book.

July 2007 - Had to drive from St. Louis, MO to Joplin, MO and back the next day. I decided this would be the perfect book for a trans-Missouri trip...and it was. Since I knew the story it was easy to keep up with and it kept me chuckling, but it has been 25 years since I read so it was new again at the same time. I wanted to cry at the end...and give Tom Sawyer and good smack too! It was required reading in high school. I tried to be a good teenager and hate it. Somehow it has stuck with me all these years. I plan to read it again and then take a day trip to Hanibal, MO. I have a feeling I'll love it even more the second time around.

If anyone needed to tell their stories, the characters in this book definitely did. This was a wonderful read about the black women who work for white families in the late 1950's and early 1960's in Jackson, Mississippi. The story centers around Skeeter Phelan who aspires to be a journalist and decides to write a book based on interviews with "the help", the black women who work for white families. Aibeleen has been working for white familes for years and is going on 50 years old and on the edge of retirement. Minny has an abusive husband and more than a handful of kids and always seems to get the raw end of the deal from the white women she has worked for until now. It's not just a story about racial tension and boundaries, but about relationships and the human experience no matter what the color of a person's skin.
