Ok... this is a very long book but I enjoyed it because it was so different to what I normally read. It would be fantastic if they made this into a movie and stick to the book! My favorite characters are ... Jamie, Jared & Ian! The next book will be interesting to see where the story heads from where it ended....

Intense and oft times a little slow. When it got slow i put it down and came to back to it when it called me, then i would be enraptured for a couple hundred pages and then need a brake. I think this is as close to a sci-fi memoir as you can get, tho i think sci-fi doesnt really apply, magical realism, which Im not sure was an available term at the time of its initial printing, works much better.

Originally written for children, The Stars: ANew Way to See Them, will teach you all of the constellations in a clear and simple manner. Mr. Rey, co-author of the curious george books, took it upon himself to redraw all of the constellations so they actually look like something recognisable. Most star charts are just a jumble of boxes and triangles with no recognizable shapes. For instance on a regular star chart Tarus looks nothing like a bull but Mr. Rey's version, using the same stars, definitly looks like one. Plus the drawings are really cool.

I have long wanted to read a novel by Ms. Gordimer, a South African writer and winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature for 1991, and finally had the time to do so. The Pickup was published in 2001 and is just a lovely little book that packs in a lot of power and also poetry to soften the edges. I highly recommend this book even though the story might not seem believable I like how the author brings racial tension, religious differences and love of two very different people together to a magnificent effect of understanding our differences in culture, love and religion. Her descriptions of Africa are lovely and harsh and the clash of those are just an amazing feat of her writing skill. Looking forward to reading more of this author!

An excellent book. Parts made me cry - with a son in Afghanistan, reading about telegrams from the war was difficult, but all in all I enjoyed it very much.

This was such a great book. I was a little bit worried going into it that I wouldn't understand the culture and the land, but I was wrong. This was such a great book. Hassan will live on forever, the goodness in him was what made this story so touching. "For you, a thousand times over". Amir's reaction to the guilt that eats him away after the incident rings true for all of us. We can never say how we will act in certain situations until we are in them, and Amir's reaction proves this. Very few books actually make me cry, but this was one of them. This is a book you will truly get swept up in and remember always.

Oh Sookie. I finally figured out why I keep reading about you. I feel like (8 books into this) I know you so well. You are like an old friend that I can just pick up with at any point. And even though there are many things about your series that drive me crazy (the poor editing in places, the inconsistencies, the oftentimes author manipulated plotline, etc.), I can't help but root for you. Anyway, I will continue to read about you but I'm not going to lie--I really hope your series ends one day.
