"A collection of essays by Latter-Day Saint geologists, chemists, astronomers and others in the physical sciences. The authors enlighten the reader with their perspectives on some seemingly incompatibility of doctrines of modern science with the revealed word. The insights are profound but obviously there are no easy answers that resolve some of the age old debates betewen evolution and creationism. Faithful Latter-Day saints will recognize the not-so-obvious compatibility of science and religion."

4.5 étoiles. Un excellent roman. J'adore le style de Jean-Paul Nozière. Ce roman est très bien construi et raconté. Je l'ai lu dans une soirée! Je le recommande fortement.

Ever questioned the widely accepted idea that violence is part of human nature? Tired of believing war is inevitable? Have a desire to learn of real solutions from the personal to global level that will help humanity turn the tide from violence-based conflict resolution to authentic peace-building? Nagler's book is chock full of inspiring anecdotes, amazing moments in history you never learned, and provocative theories about the efficacy of nonviolence. If you're looking for a plan of action for the "audacity of hope" that burns within you, or if nothing else, you seek some original thought (this stuff ain't mainstream), look no further than any page of this wonderful book, winner of the 2002 American Book Award.

I recall liking it when I read it in the summer of 1984. I doubt I would like it if I read it again. I tried other Robbins but I found them to be too silly.

My biggest problem with the Penderwick books is Batty does not talk like a four-year-old. That takes away the believability for me. Overall, though, the stories are sweet.

** spoiler alert ** This is not one of Yarbro's better Saint-Germain novels. The story felt forced and the people in the vampire's life were mostly unlikeable. Saint-Germain's actions, when he took his vengeance on those who hurt him and the people he cared for, seemed out of character because, unlike in Tempting Fate when he was crazed with grief, in this book he has a long time when he is recovering his "health" and strength during which to consider his reaction. To me, this makes his vengeance seem far out of balance, and perhaps the character - who I have known and loved for decades now - would actually have attempted to bring the vandals to justice via the legal system.

The Conan novel is much better than the short stories. Although it does occasionally read like a series of vignettes loosely tied together, it is still better than reading five short stories in a row in which Conan's various positive attributes are redundantly praised using the same language over and over again. The illustrations in this edition are also far less intrusive than the first volume's. Good stuff, but you're gonna want to print out a map for a bookmark.

I fun 50's book. These guys spend all day with a drink in one hand and a smoke in amother. Very British colonial.
