I was really looking forward to reading this book, it looked like it could have been interesting and even the cover is nice. There were just too many problems with this story that kept me from finishing it. Oddly formal sentence structure that stood in stark contrast to some of the more sexual purple prose, which left me annoyed most of the time. It was also very annoying that the heroine would constantly remind herself of her extended celibacy if one of the male protagonists happened to just look at her a certain way (and how she would like to end it, but oh! not to them, but it HAD been a long time, blah, blah, blah). It would have been nice to read a paragraph without Evans constantly mentioning her increasing libido. I understand it's supposed to be a "historial paranormal romance," but how about trying some finesse please! Although I did like how Evans wrote about her take on vampires, ogres, and various fey populations. While it wasn't exactly original, it was interesting at points. Especially in regard to ogres and how the supernatural fey population lives in an uncomfortable, but symbiotic relationship with mortals. That said nothing else about this story was very interesting to read. Everything about the characters is spelled out from the beginning. Instead of showing the reader how a character is brave, or reserved, or bold, etc. everything was stated point blank (ex. "He ached for her regard, it was hauntingly clear, etched in every tense inch of his vulnerable visage." it's so clear only because the author literally hits you over the head with it, jeez). A reader can only take so much... Overall not very good...dnf.

When I read this book, it pretty much changed my life. I'm not sure I will ever, re-read it or whether if i read it today if it would have the same impact, but at the time I found the Kingslover's portrayl of the missionary family incredibly powerful.

We loved this book and we loved the pictures. We read this book because it could help give us ideas for writing stories about friends.

I'm sappy, but .. it made me cry. Amazing. It had the depth, it had the psychological factors .. everything to make it a masterpiece (and more!). So glad that I stubbled across this at the local library.

Baseball, tough dad, not too detailed, but a bit of thinking. Quick read.

Very interesting to read about another culture in another time. Although it was painful to experience the footbinding process through the main character's trials with it, the overall book was really engaging.

I've read this way too many times. And all the other ones as well. I love Georgia. It's impossible not to. And the Sex God and annoying Jas, and Wet Lindsay and all the rest.

This book is awful and it's not for the weak of stomach. I love how Mr. Takami wrote this book.I think Suzanne Collins' book "The Hunger Games" is kinda same and inspired by this book. At first when im reading this book I'm kinda confused because this book contains 40 japanese names. I adore Shinji Mimura because he's a genius :)

I had said I wasn't going to read any more Shopaholic books because Becky's lying, materialistic ways make me so upset, but I couldn't resist a book about sisters my sister had read. The author again uses her witty writing style to weave a funny story but it was at times a bit of a stretch.

This book applies wisdom to "heart" matters. To be a giver, you must first have the basics of preparedness intact. It makes the point that moving from success to significance does not entail giving it all away or going into poverty. The stories are so simple, yet I believe so profound - because I have since gone in to re-read some of the sections to remind myself, as well as glean further meaning.
