It took me a really long time to read this book...but not because it was boring! It was a very interesting take on the vampire legends, especially with all the terrible teen vampire fiction that is flooding the bookstores now. There were a few slow parts, but overall it is enjoyable for anyone who loves a good mystery, serious vampire story, or history.

On second reading, I still found this quite good. A nice overall plotline without letting each chapter be an adventure itself; a visit from Omega Red, one of my personal favorite Wolverine villains; and, again, more of the cool flashback style. Nice.

This book was so beautifully written, it was like reading poetry. I was so captivated by his prose, that it wasn't until I was all done that I realized that the content of the book was really trash. I couldn't believe they made this into a movie (the most boring movie ever, btw).

I stumbled across this book as an audio that was also read by Maya Angelou, and didn't realized that it was the last of her six books. I thought there was some interesting parts and learned somethings that I didn't know, but she spoke as an established figure in the Civil Rights movement, already well known to both Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, JR., and I would have liked to have known how she became established in those circles, because at that time she was not yet a writer, but had actually been a singer and dancer, which was news to me.

This was first book I'd read by this author and I've since read another. This is a charming book if you like different like I do...a boy was brought up by spirits in a graveyard after seeing his parents murdered when he was a small boy. It's also a quick read and very good.
