I didn't finish this book. It never grabbed my interest like her others and I just returned it to the library when it was due.

Hardy is better known for his novels, but quickly became my favorite poet upon my first exposure to him in this compilation in a class my freshman year at Pomona. Soem poems touch upon a personal level, others just reach me for some inexplicable reason, and all are beautifully written. Hardy more than any poet has influenced my writing, and this compilation is a great introduction to his work.

I did like it. Yes there were funny moments in the book. It also is a reminder of how such a short time ago really people with a different color skin were treated. It wasn't very well or even very human. Hopefully it will help us all remember what the civil rights battle was about. If you're lucky enough to afford a "maid" treat that person fairly and humanely, they have a life too.

In the same vein as David Sedaris, but much darker.

Philip Roth fans would love this book. Like "American Pastoral," Nunez's novel offers a rich, compassionate recreation of the Protest Era. And, thanks to snappier dialogue, it's easier to read.

We listened to this and it was interesting but had quite a bit of swearing and a pretty unbelievable main character. Fun though and a crazy theory!
I read this for an 18th century lit. class, which I have to say, despite all my original doubts, I really enjoyed. While it is a long, somewhat exhausting, epistlary novel, if you approach it the right way it can really be a good time. Just take it in small doses. And don't get too worried about poor Pamela- remeber, she will have her "Virtue Rewarded." If you read it, make sure to read Fielding's "Shamela" afterwards. It's short, and you'll totally sympathize with it.
I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone unless I knew they were interested in anatomy and/or Vienna or Munich. I thought it was incredibly strange, but not delightfully so.
Not a very pretty picture of some of the Kennedys, especially Rose. This was an enjoyable read, but not a particulary happy one.
