It captured me in the first few lines. I love this story, which is written in verse. It took me less than a day to read it, for I was so hooked on it. A beautiful fairy tale, yet with a twist.

** spoiler alert ** It was good, but I think she could have made it a bit more obvious that Sirius was James and Lily's best friend, because it would have made it more real for Harry if he knew about Sirius' supposed betrayal.

I don't like Kerouac, but this book had a life-changing impact on a friend of a friend, so I feel obligated. Wow, that was surprisingly good. There are definitely gratuitous Kerouac-stylings, but this book resounded with the ebullience of a found man. I don't know much about Buddhism, but I can imagine that the way it is portrayed in the book isn't the most accurate. That said, it's hard to resist Kerouac's excitement for the Way. If you are at all interested in Kerouac (I was not), the metaphysical, the spiritual, etc., I think this is a good book to read.

I cannot for the life of me remember which of these books was which, or what happened in which. They really are mostly all one book, a la Lord of the Rings, just split up to increase sales/commercial appeal. I also, tragically, can't remember individual plot points. I remember the gist, I remember writing a kickass paper about them, ad I remember lots of complicated thoughts and notions about religion and evolution. Also, I remember them being really amazing, complicated books, and being surprised that they're "children's books".

Amazing! Though this series is geared towards young adults - themes of war, love, friendship, family, innocence, etc transcend age! I could not book these books down. Strong characters and very creative setting. I hated to leave the world of Panem! As others have said, "if only i could read the series again, as if it was the first time."
I had high hopes. I didn't feel any emotion while reading this book, and actually speed read the last fifty pages because I was so sick of the predictability. I give Forever an 'eh' at best.

Oh man! Was originally trying to read this book just for fun. Now, it has become more like a required college reading, haha! Seems like I have to refer to additional resources to gain a better understanding. The metaphors, motifs and symbols in this story are really not that easy to comprehend right off that bat.. well, at least for me. I do know why many people rave about this novel...it is very moving in that the author does draw in the reader quite effectively. After a few chapters, I envision being out in a Long Island beach.. wow! Despite all the difficulties in picking up on overlapping meanings and whatnot, I am not giving up! I have like a bunch of other books to read but luckily this one is lightweight and easy to carry around with me. But this sure goes to show, big things do come in small packages, though!

The 19th C English is a bit hard to follow at times, but it's a great classical fairy tale on the battle between good and evil. Fantasy and wonder and magic aren't just for children, I say. :)
