This is an amazing book! Get it! You won't regret it.
A superb book to teach so many lessons to kids (10 and up!)

I enjoyed the journey more than the destination. There are no surprises about where the book is going, you are told towards the very beginning, but once you actually get there it's all wrapped up in about 20 pages and seems like that part wasn't all that well thought out. However, it's an addicting book and a quick read.

Quick and pleasantly predictable read. Lead to a good experience for my first audio book.
Wow. Granted, I'm a big dork. But this was a page-turner for me. Fascinating.
I've been looking forward to this book for a few years now. Finally! It was pretty good, surprisingly different from his previous work. In all accounts it is a alternate history novel but that makes it sound like a fantasy novel or science fiction which it definitely is not. What Kavalier and Clay was for Comic Books, New York and Gay Jews this one is for Chess, Alaska and uh, gay Jews. ....Oh, and it's a sort of Detective story.

I love Salinger with all my heart. But this book was a bit of a bore.

Read as eBook. Interesting "alien invasion" concept; good main characters (Sam, Mary, Old Man).

Although this book was still wonderful, it wasn't quite as good as the first one. (Spoiler alert) ... I was disappointed in the ending of the trilogy, because it didn't tie things all together very well for me. However, life is sometimes like that, and it did indicate that she was living with all that happened, and moving forward. I just wanted a bit more detail filled in. Still, a very, very good series! Up near the top of the list ... Re-read, November 2013 ... great reading again, and I agree with my earlier assessment. I perhaps understood a little more this time, though there were things still a bit unclear to me. Still highly recommended and I'll be there when the third movie comes out! Re-read, April 2015 ... while this book does have a few disappointing happenings (me liking happy endings and all) it is still well written and has kept me riveted right till the end, even though I've read it before. I am especially eager for the last installment of the movies. Interesting coincident that I was reading the end of this book the very day that Willow Shields (Prim in the movies) was sent home from Dancing With the Stars! :(
