Overall, I found the concept of the novel pretty intriguing. As for the novel itself, it was my least favorite read. Through out the novel there Is s tone of whining that I seem to here. I enjoyed some parts when she talked about the people she worked with and the numerous trials one must go through in order to make a living off of minimum wage.

Overall, I liked the story. There were some parts and some characters that I didn't understand as to why they were involved in the story. I felt it seemed to go off track in places and I did find myself bored a few times, but the ending was very good and I will probably read the next book when it's to come.
This heartwrending tale personalizes the plight of so many Lithuanians who were taken from their homes for the Russians, brutalized, and then sent into labor camps (community farms)to toil under horrid conditions. Though filled with scenes of unspeakable horror, the novel also recounts the quickly formed kinships of those who had so recently been strangers. The stark differences between the egotism of some in power and the kindness of others is evident as the group of "criminals" are moved from Lithuania to Siberia.

Required reading for High school. Very good — a classic!

My favorite Shakespeare play, even though it's got some tough competition.

Mostly harmless. That’s the entirety of the entry for Earth in the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Of course, it hardly matters now, since Earth was destroyed half an hour ago to make way for a hyperspace express route. Now Arthur Dent is stuck on a stolen spaceship with the two-headed, three-armed President of the Universe, Zaphod Beeblebrox, and the girl he stole from right under Arthur’s nose. Arthur Dent is having a very bad day—and that’s even before he has to deal with the hypochondriac, suicidally depressed robot, Marvin. With no home to go back to—his house was demolished minutes before the Earth was vaporized—Arthur has no choice but to continue on his adventure. Before he’s finished, he’ll know three things—what is the meaning of life, which species was really in control on Earth, and that he should never, ever be without his towel.

Definitely worth reading. I would rate this one behind Midwives but ahead of The Law of Similars. I seem to be in a trend of books narrated by different characters for each chapter and this one was particularly effective with this technique.

I'm so excited for crazy adventures in asia that I decided to read this book, even though I'm not leaving for another, oh, 8 months.
The first of the "Left Behind" novels and the only one I read. As I said, it was OK but not good enough to spend time on the rest of the series.

Typical mayhem ensues, Gregory and Rodrick and the rest of the Heffley family yuck it up as the "wimpy kid" continues to behave in the same self-serving manners which could possibly land him in military school. I think this is a cute series, just right for my oldest sons age group. Not only is it funny, but at times we find ourselves stopping and discussing what a spoiled rotten kid Greg is!!
