A guide for what a life is like without reproducing. Helpful ways to address the endless questions and thoughtless comments from strangers, family, and friends as you go along the sometimes lonely "road less traveled" without kids.

My favorite one in the world ~
Like the majority of The Sandman saga up until this point, Gaiman's A Game of You somehow failed to be intiguing or convincing. Despite its best efforts to be both off the wall and imaginative there's still an undercurrent of conventionality that I can't quite pinpoint. Maybe Gaiman's trying too hard to make his core group of characters oddballs and misfits and ends up dehumanising them to the extent that his lesbian character, Hazel, fails to understand how one gets pregnant and he wheels out the old transgender types - admittedly, probably not that "old" in mainstream 1989 comics, but Wanda just doesn't feel well written or nuanced - or maybe its just because the storyline just feels fairly dull and uninspired, with the main character Barbie (recently split from Ken *yawn*) receding into the dream world of her childhood which is now trying hard to free itself and destroy ,and possibly needing to be saved by the love and fortitude of her misfit friends. This ought to be the kind of thing that I'd enjoy and certainly from the endless rave reviews this comic has received over time, I feel that I'm missing whatever it is that has turned this comic into a beloved treasure for most people. In sketch and outline its fine, but somewhere in the execution, perhaps the uninspired art or Gaiman's less than compelling characterisations, it simply isn't catching fire.
This is a short but impacting read about a little boy's glimpse into heaven while on the operating table for a burst appendix. What I appreciated about the author (the dad of the little boy) is that after every time he talked about a portion of heaven that he experienced, his dad would back it up with scripture. I found myself speed reading through the "filler" stuff to get to the parts where Colton would talk about heaven. I truly believe that he saw what he claims to have seen and I hope to carry the knowledge of heaven a little closer now.

I loved the start of this book, the characters, the language, the mood --but around the middle everything started getting a little stale, and I could tell the author was struggling and stretching a little, trying to find a way out of the story she had created. The end was disappointing, and didn't live up to the book's awesome beginning, but it was still a good read!
So disappointing. I love the Kate Martinelli mysteries, far more than I like the Mary Russell series, but this one was just awful. I don't know who these people are who live in San Francisco but have never met an Indian person, and the stereotypes across the board (gay men, lesbians, working class people, Indians) really ruined this one for me ... not just because they were offensive, which they were, but because the characters lacked nuance and credibility. I also felt that the whodunnit was obvious - I guessed the perpetrator before most of the crimes had even been committed, and then it seemed like I was being bashed over the head with the clues (when I wasn't being bashed over the head with theology).

I read many reviews for Matched and all claimed that it was amazing. I, however, didn't share this belief. Was it an interesting read? Yes it was. The thing was the book was extremely slow moving and I at one point didn't even want to finish it. I think it started getting better near the end of the book. Even though I didn't think Matched was very good, I'm still patiently waiting for Crossed to see what happens to Cassia and Ky.

Good adventure story set in a sort of timeless Venice - standard "kid running from bad stepparents", but had enough mystery and good characters that it kept me turning the pages.

I've read this book so many times now it's ridiculous. This book has inspired mee in so many ways, the main character Case fights to restore his dreams in life while doing what he loves. This is a story of love, rehabilitation, computers, and female ninjas. One of the greatest Cyberpunk novels of all time.
